Two weeks ago I bought the FSDOE CD-ROM and I have heavy problems in controling the planes. I have a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital joystick and use the latest Logitech WingMan Profiler Version 3.30.532. The planes react very nervous, flying straight or aiming is nearly impossible. Please help me, thanks Mark

Mark, I use a Logitech Wingman Force. I remember what a problem that was. The best thing to do is use the profiler.

Make a profile for SDOE.
Here is the trick.

In the bottom left corner click X-Axis
Select Axis Properties
Set Senitivity to Low
Click Ok.
Do the same for the Y-Axis

This will make a major difference. I have noticed that the new drivers (3.30.532) seem to be a little more touchy than (3.25).

One advantage of using a Force Feedback stick is that I can adjust the Centering Spring tension. With more tension I get less bobble.

I hope this helps. When you get the stick working better I am sure that you will really enjoy SDOE.

If you have any questions just repost or send me an e-mail.

I use the Logitech Wingman Force and had the same problems.

I did just what Raider did, and it worked! I also do not use force feedback - oscilations still build up and cause the stick to go nuts! I think this is being addressed in the new SDOE beta, but I am not sure.

I have the exact same stick. I've had the exact same problems. Its hooked into an Ensonic SB PCI 64 sound card, but be sure you have the newest drivers both for your sound card and joystick. I noticed a problem about a month ago, that the stick wouldnt respond to right movement. I had it replaced under warranty and it worked fine until it started losing right movement sensitivity again. I don't know why. I've set the sensitivity to medium, it makes it steadier to fly. Check to see if your stick gets full deflection all ways. You may need to manually calibrate it a few times to get 100% in all direction, as I have to. But the first time i plugged in that new stick, SDOE was beautifully smooth.

Spanky here..

Thats so wacky guys I just got the wingman digital extrem 3d. I think its just a remodel of the stick you guys use and its pretty damn good. no sensitivity problems at all

its

USB, 7 buttons, 8 way hat, throttle, and twist.

the only things i don't like is i would like to fine tune the hat and buttons (who doesn't) and lower the spring tension a bit and make the stick a little thinner. Yes i'm damn picky

Spanky, One good thing about a Force Feedback stick is that you can adjust the centering spring force to be as light or heavy as you like. Even if you do not use the Force Feedback.

Can you use the profiler to change the Buttons and add a shift button? Adding the shift button will give you 12 programable buttons.

Good luck.

Added a Wingman Force to my son's system, and other than no FF at all, it seems to work well with SDOE..? DL'd the new Profiler software, which allows addition of a shift key and use of pedals....no use using it, though, as we can't get the profile recognized within the sim...anyone else experience this?

Other than that, it seems stable enough....maybe I have to disable the Force Feedback within the game?

Nealg,

Do you use a TNT video card? Latest Nvida drivers (ver 3.53) caused some problems.

Have you tried to start a SDOE profile from scratch?

I'm still having probs with mine, to the extent that I've pulled it and the software off my system. Logitech support was no help, other than referring me to the nearest Logitech center. And it's out of warranty, even tho its only two months old. So, I'm thinking that maybe my gameport has burned out something in the stick, since it happened to both the LWEd's I've had. So no flying for me until this is squared away.

Raider....thanks. His video is a Viper77o TNT2, using Diamond;s drivers, not sure what release. Yes, we created profile from scratch. The stick is USB...perhaps that is it?

Thanks for suggestions.

I got a Wingman Interceptor for Xmas along with SCOE. I've had the same problems with the sensitivity.

Also, I've tried creating a profile for SCOE with the Wingman software, but can't get SCOE to recognize it. Any hints?

Sinsitivity, shminsitivity,
I don't mean to be a pain, but if the above referenced tips don't help then your on your own.
Yes the planes are sensitive, but you have to be smooth and patient. I mean your flying a high performance aircraft not making butter.
I use a Wingman Extream. No profiler, no Stickworks utility, nothing. Just have to get use to it in my opinion.
And I to tried Logitech support. What a joke! I may as well been talking to my wife about it. Incompitent, illogical and had no answers that made since. Hadn't even heard of SDOE. Grrrr!!
Anyway just keep at it. You will get it!
Hang in there.

Just an update...installed the ver. 3.30 profiler and everything works; just a matter now of adjustment within the sim.

Thanks for replies.

Problemo Solvedo:
I purchased a new Gravis Thuderbird2. It even came with a copy of Janes WWII Fighters.
I then proceeded to drop-kick that sorry LWES into the next county. I'll go out of my way to not purchase another Logitech gaming device again!
