I'm using it and I'd have to say that this is the only directx upgrade I've done that produced a noticeable effect. My frame rates are definitely higher and I've haven't experienced any bugs. Well, except that Flying Corps Gold doesn't run anymore.[This message has been edited by Michael (edited 11-29-1999).] IP: Logged |

Well.......My comp is still settling down after DX7.....Funny thing though it is only FS that it is doing strange things.....When exiting the sim sometimes the tool bar is half way up the screen??????And the funky intro video will not run,hey....I liked it. catch-ya Red IP: Logged |

Just put DX7 in and no problems. Most things look different, not dramtically but subtle. The colors look brighter to me. Not getting any better frame rates but I am using glide so shouldn't.To install any new DX you first must sit in a circle of candels and chant loudly "I love computers" over and over while killing a chicken. Just to be safe, of course. [This message has been edited by Hawk (edited 11-29-1999).] IP: Logged |

I've been running DX 7 since shortly after it first came out, and haven't had any problems at all. I'm running in Glide mode as well, so no change in frame rates, but it doesn't seem to have hurt anything.(Hey!!! I'm a Pilot again! Finally!!!!! ) [This message has been edited by Aronsky (edited 11-29-1999).] IP: Logged |

Chugging along in the 17, I'm seeing 5-10fps faster. Colors do seem a bit brighter, but the reds seems to have a bit more of that jpeg-ish speckling. ..can't say about intro film - haven't played with CD in months. Interesting thing is the chrome effects! -7 installed with interstate'82, and playing with the paint utility I discover the skins are 32bit TGA files, and somehow ended up with a chrome truck that reflects in realtime. Polished aluminum skins in SDOP?

Go for it rkdodge,I have used it in both beta and release ver with an increase in frame rate(D3d using TNT2)and a very stable games platform it is.Only bitch and it might not be a Dx7 prob is the nVidia release drivers 3.53(det)are slower and less stable than 2.08(det)------------------ Cheers Kat out [This message has been edited by Katana (edited 12-02-1999).] IP: Logged |

I had to reformat both my HD's as I couldn't put my constant game-crashes down to anything other than the recently installed DX7. My systems really went nutty while DX7 was around. I've since read advice from a couple of mags saying to avoid it "...until the known bugs are addressed." DX6.1 works great, and like they say, if it ain't busted don't fix it. IP: Logged |

I installed Dx7 because I needed it to run FS2000 in my machine. With an 8mb Voodoo2 and a SB AWE32, I noticed absotutely no difference of frame rate both in Glide and D3D. Some people with the same sound board reported corrupted sounds, but they say it was solved after reinstalling the SB drivers.[This message has been edited by Cascavellete (edited 12-01-1999).] IP: Logged |

Hi Kat. My system:P3-600. 395 RAM. (PC-100) Creative Labs TNT2-Ultra. SB Live sound card. Toshiba 6x DVD drive. Apollo Via mother board. Maxtor 21GB HD. I think that's all the important bits. DX7 definately messed up my system and I could neither delete it or install DX6.1 over it, thus I had to reformat the lot...rats! IP: Logged |

Boy wish I had those specs Siggi, the only thing I could even guess at would be do you have the latest bios flash for the Via chipset.Yeh good old Bill when you take a step forward he just hates you to take one back.).Cheers. Well, I fixed my crashing by leaving DirectX 7 alone and installing Direct X Media 6.0 and its patch. Why that should work I have no idea.IP: Logged |
