Just to follow up on this topic.

The @Home cable modem download speed used to be quite variable here in southern New Jersey. I usually got at least 1000 kbps, but latenight/earlymorning download sessions could sometimes see nearly 5000 kbps.

My upload speed has always be capped at 128 kbps.

After the transfer to Comcast highspeed internet, my downloads were capped to 1500 kbps. Early evening transfers typically yeild no more than 700 kbps.

I've also had to lower my TCP Receive Window in order to improve transfer efficiency (see http://www.dslreports.com/). Unfortunately, connectivity now routinely stalls, another new feature of Comcast HSI.

My cable modem is capped at 1500, and I have no problem at all with that.

Its plenty fast that way.

What I don't like is the transfer limits, but I havn't been warned yet so I guess I'm probly ok.
