I haven't been watching the development of boards and chips so what do you guys think of the latest stuff?

I think I still want to do with a P4 instead of athlon since SDOE killed me on any AMD chip sets.

Is athlon any good now?

I've always used Intel. I'm thinking of
upgrading and I'm hearing an awful lot of
good things about AMD including cheaper. The
person who has always done my upgrading is
recommending AMD and he has to guarentee them.
I may switch with this next upgrade.

I'm waiting for a 400 MHz (or 500 MHz) front side bus from Intel (Q1 next year).

I'd also like to see more on-chip cache, but that won't reach the consumer market for a while?

I will only switch to AMD after Intel makes another RAMBUS-type mistake, or after AMD starts making a good motherboard chipset (which ever happens first).

AMD rocks.

Get the Asus A7M266...you can't go wrong. I haven't had a single glitch with a 1.4 T-Bird, DDR and the Asus A7M266.

I'm sold. Intel can kiss my ass until the produce another worthy processor/chipset. Intel chips are priced too high right now to be of any good value.

But to each his own.

After DanW's recommendation, maybe I'll consider AMD too.
