Man- they did it again In '96 they came back from a 2-0 deficit in Atlanta to take the series...and I'll be damned-- I thought Oakland had them after the first 2 games....they looked so old LOLBut then they came back and won it tonight...3 games straight!!!! David Justice hit a homer, and Jeter had an awesome catch in the end. Man I love this game!!!

Man..Pettitte was incredible last night He does tend to give you some drama at times (kind of like a Wetteland closer drama-- you Yankee fans remember those, don't you? )-- but then there are other times when his pitching is dead on Last night was one of them...let's hope Mussina does as well!IP: Logged |

I still don't understand why the M's pitched Sele when Pineiro was available. People around here talk about Sele as the crafty veteran, but IMHO Pineiro has better stuff and should have been the one out there yesterday. That being said, the Yanks did have some great starting pitching.charm IP: Logged |

2 down...and it's back to New York!I only hope they do as well at home and don't fall to the same fate that Oakland did when they were 2 games up in the last series ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! Jeeves =FC= IP: Logged |

Damn, Damn 3-2 and the M's look like they did 5 years ago. What I'd like to know is they know the Yanks are tough on the road so why not play em tough, I mean why put in Garcia (takes 4 innings to warm up) when they could have used Rhodes to open, just pisses me off, go YANKS!!! P IP: Logged |

Don't worry Smokey. The Yankees are still the best team money can buy. Yankee payroll = $110 million/yr. Mariner's payroll is only $76 million. The Giant's is only $63 million. The best bargain is the A's, only $34 million. The Giants and A's combined aren't nearly as much as the Yankee's.Yup, the Yankees are the Microsoft of baseball. You should be proud of them. I usually root for the Yankees, but I'm more of a baseball fan than a Yankees fan. While today was a thorough ass-kicking, I'm glad that it happened. As a baseball fan foremost, I want this to be an exciting series. Another Yankee win today would have made the remaining game(s) too boring. Arizona looks like they are kicking butt. Who do you guys think will make the best opponent to NY? IP: Logged |

Only because Congress passed a law exempting baseball from monopoly laws and only because of revenue sharing in professional baseball. The Yankees are the biggest and best and dominate the competition, just like Microsoft. George Stienbrenner (sp?) is no better than Bill Gates. He executes better than his competition and buys (steals) players no one else can afford. They are both businessmen of the same ilk. IP: Logged |

The Yanks are also getting pretty old....I watched the first 2 games of the last series.....the A's team looked like a college team whilst trouncing the Yanks in Games 1 and 2....Clemens, while still in great shape, is getting old....O'Neil, Martinez, and Brosius are all on their last legs...the only one who remains dominant was a rookie all-starr--Jeter....and if Steinbrenner doesn't sell the farm to keep him on the team for the far future, then a 22 year Yankees fan will be extremely pissed!IP: Logged |

Actually- that was film from the first playoff series with the A's....they only showed part of it-- the whole thing where it took off from the rear stadium wall and flew over the field to the handler's arm was awe-inspiring.Last night's game was a real pitching duel....and came right down to the closers IP: Logged |

Well my boys were barely edged out by Arizona. Let's see how well your boys do against them. Just think how good the Giants would be if they had an extra $55 million to spend on payroll like Steinbrenner has. Like I said, the Yankees are the best team money can buy. Dollar for dollar the Giants are the best. Besides, my boys are from my hometown. I didn't just adopt a team 1,000 miles from home because they happen to win a lot, like some people do . Why don't you root for the Cubs, or White Sox or St. Louis? They're a lot closer to where you are. IP: Logged |

Because they can't play baseball worth a shit and never could. Well, the Cards have had a few fleeting moments of glory and they are actually my second favorite team. Wish the Cards and Yanks could have played each other this year in the world series. [This message has been edited by Smokey (edited 10-22-2001).] IP: Logged |

That's what I thought. Always go with the winner, right? Sorry, I support the hometown team no matter how bad or good they are. I'm loyal to my roots. This is why most of the baseball world doesn't like Yankee fans (except those from NY). They just want to be associated with a winner, kinda like a rock groupie. If some team were to come along and start dominating baseball like the Yankees you'd probably change allegience. I truely admire Cubs fans who have stuck with a loser all these years. I could really get behind a championship Cubs team (unless they were going up against my Giants of course). Edit: Smokey, I notice you toned down your response after reading mine. Glad I got through to you. This is a first. [This message has been edited by Jerry (edited 10-23-2001).] IP: Logged |

Good job Yankees!! Now take care of the minor leagers and another world championship will be theirs. Just for the record I've been a die hard Yankee fan since the mid 50s. Jerry, incase you've forgot the Giants are no more than a bunch of NY transplants. IP: Logged |

My home town is SF. I lived there (Bay Area) for over 40 years. I have been to probably a hundred or more Giants games. I am loyal to my home town team, including the 49'ers and the Warriors (who suck big time). I'm not even a big Blazer's fan and they're right here in Portland.Have you ever even been to NY, let alone lived there? Regarding the Mariners, I'm really not an American League Fan. Always root against them in the All-Star game. I only root for the Mariners when they play the Yankees. When the Mariners play Oakland I root for the A's. I don't forget my friends or my teams even when I move. I suppose if I moved to England you would expect me to stop being an American? IP: Logged |

Is there something wrong with supporting your home team through thick and thin?By your logic we should abandon everything we grew up with and always go with the winner, whoever and wherever the winner is. You should be supporting Microsoft and the ultra-rich, not Unions. IP: Logged |
