What do you think of this Yvonne Ridley woman, the british Journalist released by the Taliban?. I'm not so sure, when she was released she said she was treated excellently, her paper now states that the opposite was the case. It also anoys me that she, or the media in general for that matter have not seen fit to comment on the two afgan guides who accompanied her into the country. They have not been released and I can guess what has happened to them.

Haven't really followed much of the story myself; have to say I think they should have kept her. The only opinion I have so far from what I have heard is that she may possibly be one of the stupidest humans on the face of the Earth, and anything she or her employer has to say should likely be taken with generous doses of salt. Even if they conflict.

Then, I have that opinion of most media anyway. It started in the late 60's when I began a major in Journalism, and has only been strengthened in the years since.

Dear God, what a completely insane, stupid bitch!

a) She travels into Afghanistan illegally (no papers etc), which is a dangerous place for foreigners at the best of times, let alone that the Taleban have a well-known distrust of foreign national journo's even when they do have the correct paperwork!

b) This border excursion occurred at such a stage in the escalation of events that anyone foreign national remaining in Afghanistan would've almost definitely been detained, again especially those who have entered illegally!

You've got be slightly dappy to enter ANY country illegally and not expect serious trouble if you get caught, presscard or no presscard!

She MUST have been aware of all this, and the ramifications of her actions.

But to crown it all, her Mother (and I've got respect for mothers all around the world, its a difficult, thankless job - at least in my family ) - and you can see where Ridley might get her foolishness from - indignantley exclaims that why couldn't the Allies have held of attacks until she was released!!

She's lucky to see the light of day again, you silly cow!

What an exercise in complete folly!

Yeah, obviously I understand the fear her mother must of felt, but that was a little naive wasn't it? I don't know, she got out of the car with this calm, serene look on her face, as if she was Brian Keenan or Terry Wait. I've no respect for the woman based on what I've seen and heard and I still want to know what happened to her guides, who she probably bribed with a few £100.....left them no choice...
