Ok, so I have a 3 gig and a 10 gig hard drive.

The 3 gig is my main (virus problems a while back, otherwise it would be the 10 gig, I was too lazy to switch it back)

So anyways, the 10 gig makes crazy resonence noises, and I already have an RMA number to return it, its shipping out monday.

So I have it all cleaned off and backed up, but I wanted to play some red faction (warez, sue me)

I install it and then unpack the sounds.

At 61 percent the computer slows to a crawl and the hard drive is solid on. (I'm thinking "ok computer is being stupid, probly the drive going south")

I reset it and start deleting all the files.

Then it runs into files it won't let me delete, file names are too long or invalid.

Wacky stuff.

Theres 32 files each with exactly the same name in 4 different folders.

The name?

dZIddZId.dZI Except the I is a thick line.

Now for the crazy part?

Ya ready for this? 10 gig drive remember

Each file is 1.56 GIGS!!!

4 folders with 50 gigs each.

LOL do ya think the drive is screwed or what?

HAHA

BTW I'm ONLY laughing cause I know its on its way to be replaced, I'm hoping they make a faster model now to replace it with

Its a 10 gig, fujitsu 7200 RPM.

Long write up but I had to tell the whole story.

Lets see if a scan disk fixes this ?

Scandisk worked.

Still won't install though, Locked up this time. After it dies or locks it also can't find that hard drive anymore in bios or when its posting until I unplug the computer for a couple minutes.

Thank god I got all my Data off the drive before it starting acting really wacky.

I was only sending it back cause the noise was driving me insane.

My hard drive makes the fatal noise every once in awhile. It always quiets down and I forget about it untill it screams and grinds for a couple of days than I panic and burn a backup of my important stuff to cd.

One of these days it will crash and burn but today it's very quiet. Thanks to cd burners I am not to concerned if it dies.

While we're talking CD burners here, there are some blokes in Germany or something who have made a glass plate of about one square inch, and you can save 2000 gigabytes on it. The only problem is that the drive you put that glass plate into is about as big as your average living room .
