We hear a lot about bombing military targets in Afgahnistan, and a little about a possible land invasion. I'd like to hear some other ideas of what we can do to win this war. Force will be necessary, but I think (and expect our leaders do too), that we have more weapons than just force. This seems to be mostly a cultural war; our liberal Western culture is an insult to radical Islam. Muslims doesn't take insults lightly, remember Salmon Rushdie? All he did was write a book of fiction and he got a Fatwa called on him.
Our culture is a threat to radical Islam. I say, lets kick it up a notch. Get Hollywood making sitcoms about the happy muslim family living in New Jersey, going to the Mosque and having kids in school. Broadcast it into Afgahnistan. Make comic books or novellas written by Americans who came from Afgahnistan or other Muslim countries, explaining how much better their lives are now. Drop these books across the country. Explain in them the radical actions the Taliban will likely take if they catch you reading them.
This strategy will give them a personal and positive view of the US and also illuminate the barbaric actions of the Taliban. It can also be a platform to dispel the rumours which are common over there, such as that no Jews died in the WTC, that the Jews set it all up to frame bin Laden, and that they all evacuated before the planes hit. Some people there think this is a fact, they need to be told that its not.
OK, lets here some more ideas!
