Yep Its faster coming down then going up. Its not even only because they don't want people to run servers. Its because most of the time you are downloading. There is only so much bandwidth so they dedicated most of that bandwidth to the download portion because people want it as fast as they can get it.
1 Mbit should be about 130KB a sec, Thats what I'm getting. And that actually happens to be the theorietical speed limit on a 1 Mbit service.
Rumors are that its supposed to be ramped up to 2 Mits.
The model tops out at 8 Mbits, boy would that ever be freaking sweet stuff, but they just don't have the infrustructer to handle that kinda bandwidth.
I'm on Bell sympatico in Ontario, Canada, and parts of their network is already too busy.
