I love free stuff... I think the internet was met for the free exchange.

My latest free discovery is www.dns2go.com from the makers of Wingate(not free) it gives you a small client that you install on your PC and allows you to have a FQDN like the important people on the internet and it stays up to date every time your IP address changes. as an example you could use da_jug_head.d2g.com as your network address to setup a game, if the software allows.(it can be switched on and off that keeps the spying down, it is also compatible with zonealarm)

Give a look at www.analogx.com for your IP and network needs. I love the free proxy and HTTP servers and always use netstatlive to tell if my ISP is lying about speed.

Good luck!

I have installed dozens without a single problem. It has limitations and its own quirks. Never seen any devastation.

ZoneAlarm messed up my computer too... it wouldn't boot anymore. It would crash before Windows loaded. The crashing program was a component of ZoneAlarm. I boot into safe mode, uninstalled ZA, and was fine.
