I have signed up for an account over on the IL2 message board recently. I noticed that some people were members and others were guests. Kind of like Cadets, pilots, JAG on this board. Well I thought that if you post like 200 times or something you become a member. Well Werner informed me that you have to pay 15 dollars to become a member. By becoming a member it is the only way you can access the members only forum, get downloads, or be included in tournaments. This is what it said under the info about membership. That is Lame - O my friends. I knew there was a catch to IL2. What they have done is take everything that is free on SDOE, everything we have grown to love, like planes, patches, tournaments etc. and they are going to charge for it on IL2. That is why IL2 is not openplane they plan to make money for a long time on that game.

"Live Free or Die" - I'm not from New Hampshire, but that is the best damn state motto there ever was or will be.

(I'm still going to buy IL2, but I'm just upset about that paying for extra's business)

That is Siggi's board. Its not THE official IL-2 board at all! And you DON'T have to pay if you dont want to... Its just a normal board. There are PLENTY of FREE IL-2 boards on the net. The ones at SimHQ and Dogfighter come to mind...

If IL-2 gets any add-ons, you wont have to pay the $15 for that board to get them. Just go else where.

Yeah the fee thing stuck in my throat a bit too, but it's been a good investment from my perspective. I personally find the Blue Byte board annoying to navigate and the simHQ IL2 board a little too troll-dense for my liking. It's all personal preference though, I think most of those free IL2 boards are 'lame-o'.
