hi,just thought some people might be interested in what I have been wasting my time on instead of working on FS SDOE stuff. (me bad) I've been working on a Windows/Linux OpenGL update of that old DOS Domark Flight Sim Toolkit FLY.EXE flight sim engine. You can get "OpenFly" here: http://ariel.ucs.unimelb.edu.au/~gjo/ It is very lame compared to fighter squadron, but much fun can be had playing old FST sims. Hippie. IP: Logged |

As far as I know FST2 is on hold and is effectively cancelled.FSTe, the version being done by FST enthusiasts who have access to the Simis FST source code has hit pretty rocky ground too. OpenFly when it is finished will probably be as good as FST is ever going to get. At least we got shading and textures now (and a AC3D plugin for making textured FST FSD shapes.) Hippie. After GT Interactive screwed Simis over the release of Ka-52 Team Alligator (the number of times that publishers have ruined flight sims is depressing :(, and that sim bombed (surely mainly due to bad reviews, as the version they released was an older buggier one), I think Simis pretty much packed up their flight sim operation... :(Not the sim market though -- they developed Mircosoft Train Simulator (under the name of Kuju) -- so I'm hoping they'll return to the flight market and make me that AV-8B sequel I've always wanted... As for the FST1 enhancement... way cool!!! ------------------ -- Shadowcat One of Many IP: Logged |
