I don't know how many of you get the history channel, but if you don't call and get it right now. Tonight I just watched an excellent show about the Spitfire. They had tons and tons of actually combat footage from dogfights during the battle of Britian, they interviewed RAF pilots who flew spitfires, and more.
One RAF pilot said that he has flown hurricanes, defiants, jet fighters and even helicopters, but there was never a aircraft that he loved more the the Spitfire.
The last scenes of the story showed some spitfires doing victory rolls, while the narrator read " The spitfire came to represent a symbol, the symbol of freedom, over the dark reign of the nazi's tyranny." Just a powerful scene, you had to see it.
If you will excuse me, I think I'm going to take the old Spit up for a flight.
P.S. Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard time. The history channel is doing the history of the P51 mustang. It should be amazing. Mark your calenders.
