I have this thing with my monitor. It's a 17-inch Packard Bell one, and my vid card is a GeForce 2MX-400. Every time I put the resolution up to 1280 by 1024, a high-pitched continious beep starts, and it doesn't stop until I turn the screen res down again. This also happened with my old vid card, a Voodoo 3 2000. The beep is not very loud, but very annoying to the ears, so much that I can't bear to play at 1280x1024. I've tried running the monitor at all the available refresh rates, to no avail. I've tried everything from degaussing to changing the colour settings. What causes the problem. Someone please enlighten me.

How old is your monitor? Maybe it just cant handle the refresh rate... I know my monitor starts to act all wierd if I go 1600x1200 or above...

Mine is doing the same sometimes and it is a sign of old age.It is a sync problem. I have had this fixed at the office but with varied results. If you know a good tech he should be able to fix it... but you might have to lug your 17' to the shop a couple of times

Methinks Argon is right. Try to look on it as an opportunity and go buy a new 21" or bigger monitor. I mean, after all, it's not my money.
Out of curiosity, if there's an ArgonV, were there Argon's I through IV?

I'll tell you the story behind it...
I wanted a screen name on AOL. Argon (My first choice. I chose it because I used that name on Commanche 3) was taken, so was Argon 1-5 I believe. Then I said screw it and went to Roman numerals. I started at 5 and wanted to count down back to 1. Well it turns out that ArgonV wanst being used! So the name has stuck. If you see any posts, mail addresses, member names, call signs in online games etc by the name of ArgonV, 99% chance its me.
