Ok, got my system up and running... Had to format my main drive (I have two) but all should be clean now. Well I get everything up and running, new drivers for everything, DX 8.0a, etc... And then I go to plug in my Sidewinder 3d Pro, IT DOESNT WORK!!! I plugged in the Force Feedback Precision Pro and it got recognized right off the bat, but not the Sidewinder 3d Pro! DOH! Another thing thats pissing me off is now my scanner wont work! DOUBLE DOH! Drivers are installed and everything is plugged in, but noooooooooooo... it doesnt want to work. So any clues out there????? IP: Logged |

Can you try USB with the joystick? My system prefer's it in the usb port.IP: Logged |

Where do you plug the joystick and scanner in? Is it the USB port or the Parallel/gameport? Also, what processor are you using (intel, AMD)?What I'm thinking is that a Parallel scanner may need the Parallel mode set in the BIOS (EPP etc.). Also, AMD chips may need the motherboard USB drivers installed, for instance if its a VIA motherboard you can get these at www.viahardware.com. IP: Logged |

Got all of that installed!I have a printer and a scanner both running on the parallel port. The printer works just fine! And it even is the second device on the chain! The damn canon scanner just doesnt want to recognize... The joystick is pluged into my sound cards game port, its NOT usb... Like I said the MS Force Feedback Pro works just fine... but NOT the Sidewinder 3d Pro... Im running an AMD 1.2Ghz with a ASUS MB. Argon, you have probably done this but sometimes we miss the obvious. Since you have two joystick drivers installed (FF and 3d Pro) go to Control Panel/Gaming Options/Controller ID and make sure that the 3d Pro is listed as number 1. Your system will only read the number 1 driver. To switch back and forth between sticks you need to switch the 1 - 2 order of the drivers. Hope this helps.IP: Logged |

Argon, Maybe try asking on a tech forum. I've been going to www.sysopt.com latly and their forums are really good for tech info. personally I'm stumped but they might have some good ideas for ya, its really busy and full of people that are there for tech reasons. Not that the people around here arn't smart. IP: Logged |

FYI I fixed my scanner!!! I should of thought of this, but it just slipped my mind... I had forgotten that SOME scanners dont like the BIOS Printer Port setting ECP or ECP+EPP. Mine was set on ECP+EPP! Thus I changed it to EPP only and viola! It worked! Scanners will also work under the "Normal" setting in the BIOS Printer Port setup. Now I just have to fix that damned joystick... IP: Logged |
