Here we are, arriving in the picturesque little town of Velke Gradiste. All is quiet, and I might add they've got awesome transit service. ** A shot of the lovely hotel in the town. A pity we couldn't stay, my feet were killing me. ** In order to slip through the town unnoticed, we had to don some civilian clothing. Harman picked a sweater vest, and I ended up with a woolen sweater. ** Harman looks on as I keep a look out in my new sweater. ** Returning to the hotel, we hijack an Opel Admiral, presumably belonging to a high ranking German snoozing in the hotel. **The nightlife in Velke Gradiste is very good. Too bad we couldn't stick around, there's a nightclub up that street with a woman singing that you can listen to. ** Harman is as good at driving cars as he is at building them. Here we whiz past a bridge patrol undetected. The guards probably thought we were going to join the others, singing beer hall songs at the pub up ahead. (you can listen to those too, although they usually end in ENGLANDER! if you're not careful ) ** Having used our Fairburn and Sykes to dispose of a dock guard and dump him in the river, we take off in an old tub. Alerted by the sound of our engines, half-drunk soldiers pour out of the bar and start shooting wildly. Maneouvering in the boat, Harman actually causes the Germans to engage in a little blue-on-blue (not shown). A few birds, no stones, hehe. ** Further down river, after laying waste to a canal lock on the river, Harman and I came across a trench compound. This place was a nightmare to crack, but once we broke the perimeter ring it was all over for the local Garrison, who saw plenty of Mills Grenades and Potato Mashers (steilhandgranaten). Here Harman makes a mess of one of the bunkers. Unfortunately I ran out of film before we escaped from Yugoslavia at the Pristina airport in Kosovo, aboard a Lancaster Bomber. Next up - Abwehr headquarters. Harman and I are going to interrupt a dinner party and make a mess of their library. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

LoL! Good shots Werner. These Kodak moments are well worth capturing. I had a great time driving Werner and myself around Velke Gradiste, the Admiral drives beautifully too. That was just the calm before the storm though... The rest of the campaign and particularly the "trench" mission was quite an eye-opener. We had to stay on our toes at all times or risk being massacred. One time a German literally ran right up to us out of nowhere and starting shouting obscenities and doing other unspeakable things with his machine gun... This game simply rocks in Multiplayer, you get a whole new feel for the game, and some of the missions you thought would be p*ss easy are in fact quite different when played in MP. Great game today Werner, looking forward to running amock in the Library with you...smash a few plates and break a few chairs too while we're there, then blow the whole thing sky high. btw folks, best viewing at full screen brightness. (hehe, and to think I did that game in single player at 50% brightness and lived to tell the tale, sheesh)I think I mentionned it over our comms Harman, but in the trench mission about 2/3s through, my heart was pounding, I had gotten cold, and my nerves were so rattled that I had to go to the bathroom. Having all those virtual trees around were almost worse than running water. Anyways... HD MP is without question the most immersive simulated WWII experience I have ever had, even at half volume. One of these days I'll nut up and turn up the volume and connect speakers 3 and 4. Working with a team mate has some interesting moments, too, like looking through a sniper scope about to pull the trigger and seeing the target flip backwards with a head shot from Harman, or our coordinated Handgrenade/MP40 assaults on particularly well-positionned Germans. I can only imagine how much fun we're going to have when HD2 comes out. The immersion will be even more unbelievable. (so will the hardware requirements, but hey, it'll be soooo worth it) Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

Hey guys, its good to see other people like this game too! It's like SDOE, it got some rough reviews out of the gate but it's a real gem. Anyways, I have to admit that playing on opposite sides of the world has its disadvantages, namely LAG. We've actually been pretty lucky, but usually two or three times a mission there is a stall, and occasionally our comms will go down (that's a real pain in the butt when you're storming a building). We'd love to have more people join, but proximity is a big issue here. If you're reasonably close to Alberta (north of Idaho) or Western Australia and want to play, then drop Harman or myself an email. I hate to rain on the parade, but what fun would busted up comms and lagginess be. Same idea as SDOE, what's better, 4 player lag free mission or 8 player laggy mission? Anyways another thing for you guys to consider is that Harman and I are about 1/3 to 1/2 way through the missions already (later campaigns are shorter), so you've already missed lots of action. Since there are three of you, I really suggest that you set up a meet yourselves and start from C1M1. Those "easier" (hehe) first missions will help you get used to teamwork in situations that are a tad more forgivable - trust me, you'll need it. It took about three or four missions before Harman and I really got a synergy going. So, like I said above, you're welcome to join but it may be in your best interests to start your own game, especially since you have a good nucleus of players right here. Cheers, Harman & Werner IP: Logged |
