I see tons of pages but they all see dead, of course our sim looks dead too until you get to the forum, so thats were all the action is in GPL too. That and chat.

Yep, theres a little match making app that you download and run and its a little service like the SDOE lobby, except there is also a GPL chat area, I'm pretty sure its on an IRC channel, but this program lets you chat on it while you host or join games.

There was tons of servers up hosting games last night.

So the chat, Yeah when I could get a word in edgewise (its pretty busy, even at 3 AM est) was pretty cool, the guys were very helpfull to me and Werner. Telling us how to get stuff we should install installed.

Its all MUCH easier to install then fighter sqaudron. Only once did I have to unzip to a temp folder and move that folder into the GPL one, I should have just unzipped into my GPL folder.

Most things just have a simple EXE installer, and its fast, you click it, it gives you some options and hit go. Theres no installer is initilizing stuff.

The best part was all of the stuff is tiny.

The largest download was 7 Megs and it unpacked to 64. It was the carset add on, not new cars but just a rework of the originals, all new graphics and 3d wheels (boy they look sweet ass).

Everything I downloaded last night didn't add up to more then 25 megs.

This is the car I usually drive, Notice he is stopped so you can read the tires, either that or he has his brakes locked, but I don't see any smoke in the rearview mirrors so I don't think so. Watching the wheels slow to a lock kicks ass. And its another way you can tell if you can't hear your tire squeal over the noise.

Same car, notice the new 3d wheels.

Theres options to run just your normal 2d wheels with the new graphics if its too hard on your FPS, Most people say you want a solid 36 FPS in all but the most crazy situations like middle of the pack and at the start.

Even with everything pumped and all the graphic addons I'm getting a solid 36 at 800x600, On my ol p2 333 with a banshee.

For some wacky reason 36 FPS is the fastest the game will run, it maxes out.

Oh yeah that carset also changes some of your camera views to some really cool movie cameras.

Everything can be changed to your liking if you know what your doing (like SDOE)

I havn't got new sounds yet but I hear they are really good, Meatwater is working on a set, yep for a game 3 years old.

Theres 14 freaking pages of links there, and they are all packed tight 3 wide with no real discription besides what the link is labled, I don't even want to guess how many hundred there are.

Last but not least, I found some amazing movies. Lots of racing set to music and crashes and stuff, some amazing work, not only in the driving but in producing the vids. Really quality stuff.

Some big stuff for us on DSL and Cable, Check out the first one for sure, and the crashfest 2000. Others are great too but those are the best I have seen so far.

Boy the fun we would have if SDOE would save replays like this, replays can be played back from any angle and any car over and over.

Note that this site has lots of good info on other racing games too not just GPL. Theres also stuff on World sports cars and Nascar 4.

Some of us SDOE guys should get together and do some racing.

What were you using for a vid card with that 350 man? Cause mine is slower by a couple mhz and it runs great.

About the 3d wheels, the deal is the hub of the wheel is inset, right now its just a flat graphic on the outside of the tire.

Its kinda like a draw on air intake on a plane and one that was modeled with real depth.

The difference is amazing, plus that carset update above updates all the graphics.

You won't be seeing GPL at its best without it, I know a 7 meg download sucks but it really is worth it.

And since your machine is a bit better then mine I can't see you havn't any problems with it.

I spent about 15 minutes pulling laps, I think my fastest was 2.17.

Then I took a quick break, I had pulled in cause my engine was sputtering.

So I come back and figured I need 2 more laps cause my driving position changed.

So I grab a new car and go to put 2 more in and I blow the engine shifting into 5th on the first turn. LOL.

Ok so I grab another car and put in my 2 laps, I crash into the wall of trees trying to slow down beside pit row after I'm done the second lap.

So I accelerate time till race start and I'm ready to go.

Everyones reving, I push in the clutch and shift into first, give the engine a couple quick blips and BOOM!. Blow the freaking engine agian LOL.

No biggie cause I didnt' qualify with anything better then last.

So quit out and restart the race, I put in 3 solid laps in last, no biggy, so I start to push it and come out of a corner wrong and hit a tree taking off my front left wheel.

Shitty ending but TONS of fun.

I think I'll do more later.

I love this freaking game.

Last time I was on the GPLEA forum there was 200 people surfing through it.
