Well, because of the support for 512 and 1024 textures, I need to upgrade from my trusty Voodoo 3 card wich does not support it. I think this may be a subject that will be on more than a few peoples mind soon enough. Suggestions please with pros/cons.

Suggest you read all the stuff about 512. Most are saying you won't need a new card. Mind you, it's a really good excuse. I mean, reason.IP: Logged |

I don't think that's right Sunray. Nat has a Voodoo 3 and can't get the 512 textures to work. Several people posted and confirmed that the Voodoo3 can't handle them.Diego, there was a post the other day from Jug Head who talked about a new inexpensive card that sounded great. He included some links to reviews. Just found it. Go here: http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/004985.html [This message has been edited by Jerry (edited 06-09-2001).] IP: Logged |

Only voodoos that support 512 and high textures are Voodoo4 and Voodoo5. Remember there is no longer support for voodoo cards so I suggest not getting a 3dfx card.I'd get a Geforce 2 or maybe hold out for a Geforce 3. IP: Logged |

Just replied to your mail Diego, the card to go for IMO (if looking to get good performance for little cash) is the Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 KyroII, it whips GF2MX, ATI Raedon and Voodo05's, and is only marginaly slower that GF2GTS, comes with 64mb on card and 4xFSAA, it's very highly praised in every hardware guide report I've read so far. I'm just still trying to find it here in the UK.IP: Logged |

I've had a talk with my g/f in Detroit and she's gonna mail me it since I can get it so much cheaper in the USA UK Price: £132 = $211 US Price $129 = £80Thanks for looking though Ponait IP: Logged |

I wonder if some how we in the states could help out our Euro buddies. We here can get most if not all of the most "state of the art" electronics in the world and it appears to me that in Europe things don't move quite so fast (not a bad thing mind you) So I was thinking that if some one just had to get something you could possibly get a friend state side to get it for you and mail it. This would require a little thing called trust though, I IMHO I do believe that there are those that can be trusted here to do this... P IP: Logged |
