Well?? I'm thinking of upgrading. A 16mb 3d card is a little little nowadays, yer know .------------------ Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings. Sunwards I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there. I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air. IP: Logged |

Guess it all depends on how cheap; the GeForce 2 cards are coming down a bit ( may be able to get a good 2 MX for under $100 US - or even a GeForce Pro or equivalent ). The mid-generation cards ( not quite 3's ) are in the 150-200 US range, but don't seem to improve much on the GF 2's.The KYRO II seems to be getting some good tech reviews, but may not be in GeForce's class. Still, they are much cheaper. The ATI stuff is radically improved, and cheaper, but are struggling ( in the limited reviews I have read ) with driver and compatibility problems. That may be sorted out by now. They seem serious about competing strongly with Nvidia, and their overall performance seems outstanding. Again, that is in the 150-200 price range US. I know, doesn't help much...but it's a bit of info I have gathered while looking for a successor to my GeForce 2 MX. $400-600 seems to be a price range for newer cards that will hold for a while. Damn 'em.

Darn, that was expensive! I mean the new cards. Wonder what the GEForce3 will cost when it comes to Norway.IP: Logged |

"The ATI stuff is radically improved, and cheaper, but are struggling ( in the limited reviews I have read ) with driver and compatibility problems." Ya don't say? Will ATI ever learn? Alot of people like their cards but ATI just doesn't back them up. Seems like the gforce 2 MX is the way to go for now for a budget card. Becareful about them though, cause there is now the geforce 2 MX 200 and 400 and they are both SLOWER then the original GF 2 MX. They went and crippled them even worse. IP: Logged |
