This game is really cool and the graphics are great (dynamic lighting especially) but I'm having some wierd problems. When I run it at 1024 x 768 I get this strange bands of fuzzy colours that come and go in cockpit view, kinda like a neon tapeworm flickering on and off at the top of the screen. Occasionally it moves down, which gets really distracting. Outside view or even looking away from all the panel displays and it goes away, but then again that isn't terribly useful in combat. My fps seems to be just enough, outside the plane is fine, in cockpit view its just low enough that I can tell it isn't 100% smooth. Not a big deal, but irritating nonetheless. I cranked terrain distance down to low and that seemed to do the trick. Having played SDOE with close in fog for so long it isn't a problem. I've installed the patch and hoped it would nail the graphics anomalies I described above, but it didn't. Does anyone have any ideas or could point me in the direction of someplace that has user tech support (kinda the FA18 equiv. of DWW)? Thanks. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! Hmm. Hidden and Dangerous wouldn't run so I checked a troubleshooting forum and they recommended installing older drivers. Maybe that was a good idea, but they didn't mention the part about keeping your newer .dll files. Oops. Error message booting up saying yada yada, your windows config is going to be unstable do you wish to continue. To fix this run Windows Setup. Well I took the plunge and reinstalled Win98 for the first time. That fixed the error message (although not some wierd one about a .dll I don't recognize not being found upon opening windows), and not only can H&D run again now but the strange neon tapeworm effect is gone from FA18. I had to turn off cockpit reflections, they looked like a big oil smear in the game. Driver issue I guess, but I'd rather reflections off and H&D running than reflections and not. A tradeoff, like anything. Strangely though, while it didn't mess with most of my windows software it did install IE4.0 instead of the IE5.5 I had before. Hmm. Not a biggie. Anyways maybe this monologue will be useful for anyone in a similar situation who bothers to use the forum's search function. Hehehehe yeah right. WM ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today!
