I NEVER thought I'd actually see one of these situations happen anywhere (live or TV), but tonight on Real TV they just showed it! The lucky bastard actually lived through it too!

One younger guy is kneeling down (what the next guy, his superior SHOULD have been doing too) and the left intake is right over his head, he's hooking up the jet to a carrier's catapult. He steps away and the superior guy comes forward standing upright! I can't believe it when it happens, but he's RIPPED from his standing position and goes into the engine HEAD FIRST, followed by a big explosion/flameout. Somehow he didn't hit the blades inside but he did end up with two black eyes, a blown ear drum, and a piece of metal lodged in one wrist.

I can't believe how lucky he is, and that it was actually shown on television. My adrenaline is still pumping over this. Oh, he said he blacked out going in, and came to when he was helped out and put on the ground, and then passed out again sitting down. I can't say I blame him, so would I!

Heh... that reminds me... a while back I received a really strange and unsolicted email about this topic. Here it is...

Goodevening JT,
I saw that video with the deck man getting sucked into the intake of the A-6.. Amazing he survived.. I however am not surviving as well.. Perhaps you can aid me.. There was a song (by a lady and it was kind of trance / ambientish in nature) that was played in the last 5 or 10 minutes of that video(there was no talking, just this song and flashing footage) I really need to know the name of this lady and the name of this song.. if you have this tape / DVD is there anyway you can check the credits and inform me the names of the artists and their songs portrayed in the
documentary? If you can I will owe my life to you.
thanks JT

AB...

I have no idea who this person is. Humourous, but slightly disturbing email, isn't it? Needless to say, I did not respond.

Did anyone else get this letter? I'm thinking it was some kind of stupid chain letter.

This isn't the exact video I saw, but it IS the same incident! 2.66 Megs, get it, check it out! Very poor quality but you can clearly see it happen for yourselves.
