I have two PC's connected by a serial cable. I have set one as the host and the other as the guest. I have gotten to the part where both screens will say verifing password but then the guest says disconnected and the host says waiting for a guest. I have tried with and without passwords. No luck. The domain name is the same and the two PC's are named differently. Has anyone ever set one of these up and if so, what am I missing? Thanks in advance.

I'm weak on this. I did it a long time ago.
I think you may have a handshake problem. I
think you have to have your stop and parity
bits set the same as well as the baud rate.
Also I believe you must use a null modem in
your cable connection. You can get one at
radio shack as well as probably a lot of
other places. Sorry, can't be of much more
help.

It's been so long since I've done this that I can't offer much help, but yes, I also believe at least a null-modem cable is necessary for a serial to serial connection. Past that I can't rememeber if you need to have any resources shared or not. To the best of my recollection, you don't.

Hope this helps

Ah, BTW, unless you need to have access to a peripheral that uses the parallel port while the two are connected, I'm pretty sure that a parallel to parallel connection is faster and the cable for it should cost about the same.

There's something about duplex also. Full and
half duplex I think. I'm pretty sure the
computers have to be set the same.

Thanks for the replies guys. Keep those cards and letters comming. Smokey, I think that you are talking about the parity. I'm not sure where to set that. Any suggestions? Thanks...
