hey guys this is the last time i will be talking to you guys since my game got messed up and wouldn't let me play after I tried getting some tanks to play in the game, they screwed up my training link in the game to where when i clicked the game went away. So i tried deleteing the tank files and when i tried to play the game it came up with an error so i tried reinstalling it and it came up with another error so I uninstalled it and am not going to even try doing anything to it anymore. unless you guys have an idea on what to do don't post anything here but if you guys know for sure on how to get it to work email me a lahndt@ptialaska.net

Heya, don't give up so easy.

Try installing it to a different directory than you did last time. For instance, if last time it was C:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron, install it to C:\Fighter Squadron this time.

Wanna hear something whacked? I installed to C:\Fighter Squadron, and then something (I don't recall what) screwed that up so I changed the foldername to FighterSquadron (no space) and it worked. The shortcut on my desktop even detected the switch on its own. With the prior filename, I get error message that tells me "invalid install, please reinstall fighter squadron", with the new filename it works like a charm.

Best of luck,

Werner

71hemicuda, this is a common error. I had the same problem when I first started with SDOE. The problem is that the tanks you installed did not have any training missions or they were damaged. So when you tried to select one it caused the crash. Now every time you try to go into a training mission the game is still looking for the last mission you tried to load. Even if you delete the tanks it still looks for the last mission you tried to load. The easiest way to fix this is to create (or rename) a mission and put it in the folder that was missing or damaged. It must have the same name as the one that caused the crash.

Or as you started to do, uninstall and reinstall, leave out the tanks or create your own training missions.

Good luck.

The sherman tank has a corrupt training mission file, delete it and every thing will work again.

I know this can be very fustrating. My final suggestion is to go to your Fighter Squadron directory and delete the whole directory. (since the uninstall fails) Then you should be able to reinstall from the CD Rom.

Or you could even do a reinstall from the CD Rom to a different directory. I have three different installs of FS due to all the OPS stuff I mess with. I offer these suggestions because this game has brought me many hours of enjoyment. Hope you can work through this and find the same.
