How does sdoe run on this card? I can get my hands on one, cheap or at least less than retail, and I was wondering how it runs this great game. Any advice is much appreciated.------------------ silas Demon's Runway Fortes fortuna adiuvat Fear, that's the other guy's problem. IP: Logged |

I have the same card (OEM version). SDOE runs quite well on it, except for the usual Direct3D problems. If you haven't tried SDOE with Direct3D, those problems include weird stairstepping on the intersections between cliffs and the ground, disappearing shadows, and general weirdness in odd places. All in all, kind of annoying but not a showstopper. If SDOE were the only sim out there, I wouldn't suggest the 2MX, but try Combat Flight Simulator 2 on it! It is incredible, with huge amounts of detail and good frame rates. IP: Logged |

I have it too; won't run SDOE on it, keep my old Voodoo2 for that. The MX has the above probs plus my gamma is always way too dark...I prefer a lighter look.Ditto on the CFS2...also B17II and Battle Of Britain, plus NOLF and a few other non-flight sims are awesome on it. For just SDOE though, you might get better overall satisfaction out of a V5 5500 if you can find one cheaper than a MX ( I got my Herc for 150 - they can be gotten for less).

Got one too, and the framerates are good. seems to like a fastish ( 600Mhz + ) processor though. I also kept my Voodoo2 for SDOE. I haven't re-installed it yet, but I think I'm going to! Still, if the patch cerw are looking at OpenGL for SDOE, then the D3D problem is history! IP: Logged | |
