I was sitting here typing on my keyboard when I realized something. Back in 1991 I bought an NEC 386 SX 20(as in Mhz) computer because I saw a copy of Jet Fighter II on a shelf at an Egghead Software in Sacramento, CA and was just dying to try it out. I had used PCs since 1982 when my dad bought one of the first IBM desktops with a monochrome (green) monitor and a daisywheel printer for me to learn about computers with and do school reports. It was great at the time and I made great use of it.So anyhow, back to 1991. I get a big fat check from uncle same for a 7 month TDY over to Europe in support of Desert Storm. I plunk down about $3000 for that 386 PC! It was lots of fun and was where I really got into flight simming. Well, it's 10 years later and guess what? That NEC keyboard had such a great feel to it that I've been moving it to each new computer I've upgraded to... and I'm typing on it now! It's 10 years old, feels great, and every key works! Pretty awesome I think. Way to go NEC. [This message has been edited by Pete Hawk (edited 01-13-2001).] IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. This elcheapo keyboard I have had for a month is rocking too, I'm sure I'll take it with me from computer to computer, IF I can keep the damn cord off my soldering iron. I've burnt right through it once and had to splice it 2 weeks after I got it and then burnt it AGAIN but just short of going through the outer sheath. LOL Now Only if I could disable these damn windows keys, whos crazy idea was that.

Just rip them off, man! Does anyone actually make any use of them? Pitty one can't buy those normal ones anymore. I use an old broken-in-the-middle-and-bent ergonomic keyb and at work I managed to find an antient (serwer PC?) keyb with a 'macro' key but no windoze keys, great!

I was using a MS Natural Keyboard which I liked until I spilt coffee down it and it stopped working. So I dug out my old IBM keyboard, and it is built like a tank . It even has removeable key tops so you can take the off and wash them in the sink. Remembering which keytop goes on which key is the fun part - lol. There is a date written in pen under the keyboard 1991-04-08, so it must be atleast that old. Great piece of kit ------------------ III Gruppe, Jagdgeschwader 3 IP: Logged |

TweakUI lets you reassign some of the Windows keys. I have mine set to Ctrl.IP: Logged |
