Spanky here...

hi guys, I was just thinking of this today.

I'm wondering if any of you guys remember that game where you pay ( i guess a quarter maybe less) and you get to fly this helicopter in a circle for a little bit, I think maybe you where supposed to land on something, It was in a big plastic dome.

It was damn cool anyways and would love to see one again, This was back in the early eightys.

That must be somthing akin to the 70's 'Whirlybird' helicopters. Man, I used to love those things to death. The things could only fly in circles but you could control the rotor speed and pitch of the craft. It had a hook underneath it so you could pick things up.

I had a couple of them (both destroyed by whatever a kid does to toys), then they suddenly dissappeared. Poof. I'm sure some kid poked his eye out with it...

Wanted to find one ever since (well, not _that_ bad).

Their back..., I saw them at Big Lots around Christmas and at Target just today. Not the Quarter operated game, but the one you setup on floor. (with lots of stuff to pick up - cars, men, crates...etc)

I bought my son one a couple months ago. I think we got it at Target. There was an isle with all of these blue boxes that said "Kool Toyz" on them. In there was a Vertibird looking helicopter toy. Only $14.95 and well worth it. The Mattel Vertibirds were red, where this one is white with a black rotor and it comes with lots of paper buildings, a hook on the heli, and cars and stuff to pick up with it.

Is this aging me or what? Yeh, i remember that one. There was even a version that had more than 1 helicopter in the dome. The helicopter had a short spring on it and the object was to fly around and touch that spring to various specified metel bars that circled the helicopter flight path.

Wacky, I really wouldlike to see one of those again, or a picture

Am I remembering right, there there was a bar attached to the heli and to the center of the dome that it rotated on and you could control the pitch of the heli forward and the speed of the prop for alt?

It does the same thing the old one did Spanky. You fly around, try to land on the buildings helipads on their roofs, pick up items and park them in specific zones, etc. It's pretty fun
