As of tomorrow, you have to pay a fee to see combatsim.com content (ie: forums, reviews & other articles, access mods and files, etc)The disturbing part, imo, is the canary-in-the-mine bit; I really hope the net isn't going to that model. I'd rather advertising than dozens of bills for the sites I really like. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

Access to their site will cost $4 per month, and $3 per month after 6 months if you stay with them. Payable by credit card only.------------------ "Where'd he GO!?!?" thunk-thunk-thunk-zing-OUCH That answered my question IP: Logged |

Spanky here... I barly visited the site anyways so its IL-2 for sure. Da Jug head Its not credit card only, its card, check 900 number. 4 bucks doesn't sound to bad until alot of sites go to this model. Then we will all be paying hundreds a month to acces sites. IP: Logged |

$4 per month for a site thats updated maybe once a week. And almost every sim forum on there (like SDOE) has a better forum somewhere else (like FSIC).Theres a brilliant business move. Maybe if they wrote more than one or two stories or reviews a week their site would get more traffic through the banner ads. I can imaging them staying in business. IP: Logged |

As a former employee of combatsim, I'm not suprised by the subscription service. It was talked about before, but I think perhaps if they just did it rather than the method the publisher chose, it would look mor professional. Well, I'm no longer there, and I wish them the best of luck. Spoon IP: Logged |

All good things come to an end. Combatsim will not be the same again - but it may be better for the site's owner.I will miss it as an information source. IP: Logged |

The content isn't worth the price of admission. I only payed attention to it once a month, so $4 a look isn't worth it. It is easier to ask you all what is good. By the time I sort throught the discussion, I have a good idea of whether it will work for me.IP: Logged |

I agree Whirlwind. I quit buying PCGamers for the same reason, I got sick of paying for their warped view of what's good and what's not. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |
