As a precautionary measure, check the news at www.tweak3d.net and the 3dfx interview at firng squad before buying. Sounds rumor-ish to me, but it never hurts to have some knowledge before purchasing...at least the interview gives one some time frame on support as it stands right now.Even though I like the Nvidia cards, I hate reading this stuff. Can't help but think of the time, sweat, hope, and in some cases love of the work, put in by many people only to have it all come apart. Change may be unavoidable, but I don't believe in it's always being for the best. I would hope there will be some support in the future, but mainly, if one is thinking of getting one of these cards, it sounds like they may be pulled soon. As to the difference, well, from what little I have learned, the 5500 is a bit more stable all around. I am sure someone else has more tech info on the 2, and maybe personal knowledge of both.
