Snow is much easier to drive on than sleet. Here in Dallas, the sleet falls, which is slick. Then it melts a little as cars drive over it and re-freezes overnight into an incredibly slick sheet. It's very treacherous.IP: Logged |

We here in Texas are not used to cold temps. Now I have a good cold tolorance... but most people in Texas dont. So when it rains REALLY hard and floods everything, or snows & sleets everywhere... school is most likely canceled for us. We lucky eh? IP: Logged |

It's been so long since I saw snow that I've almost forgotten what it looks like! I think it last snowed heavily in London about 10 years ago. All we get is so much rain (every bloody day) that if we get much more this island is going to sink into the North Sea.Anyway snow is great in the UK because everything comes to a halt and London actually looks rather scenic. Could you guys send some of the cold stuff over here please ------------------ Yardstick painted this IP: Logged |

even about 10 years ago we never got snow in N.Ireland cos of the warming effect of the atlantic ocean. I blame it on the gulf stream.IP: Logged |

You'll hear me before you see me! My ride is a Moto Guzzi LeMans...big twin...vestigial silencing....Lovely! I can set off car alarms with a blip of the throttle...but I'd never stand in the way of a man and his milk IP: Logged |

Wakeup, I must admit that responding to joyriders and the likes has never been the same since the decline of glass milk bottles and inroduction of those crappy cardboard thinggies .Ah, snow, you mean what? Oh yes, I remember now, last spring, t'was 6th of April, I got bl**y stuck in a 30 km long traffic jam caused by the flipping white substance. We retreated a bit and bypassed it happily following a lorry over local roads, sometimes the mounds were higher than the car. And that took place after a long, worm and snowless winter of last year, exactly like now. With the difference it didn't snow in November like last year, instead the temperatures were reaching 20 deg C (in November, what the heck it is, stinking Tenerife?!) I wonder when next spring it will snow the country over completely. 1 of May sounds about right, bugger! Salute ------------------ 9./JG3_Poniat IP: Logged |

GP,Jeez, and whereabout is that place ? Strange sense of fashion some people have Jaguar, That's way cool I find nothing more refreshing than minus ten deg C and sensible amount of snow. It's so nice, especially during a piss up, providing you carefull enough and don't try to sleep in a snow mound. That's why we have Carnival after Christmas over here. Those kind of temperatures providing there is no wind are best. Don't envy you working in -40C though. Once worked in -10C chopping down trees wearing only longsleeve shirt (and the trousers of course ) but it doesn't hurt you lungs so it OK. I wish you (reasonably) snowy Christmas all. PS. It's been snowing sleet-ish snow for a while over here leaving some nasty smeared streets behind so no joy yet. [This message has been edited by Poniat (edited 12-18-2000).] IP: Logged |

Rain?, let me tell you about rain. It rains constantly in Belfast, rarely that heavy but a constant mizzly smelly rain falls. You put on a big coat and end up sweating inside the coat, soaking outside. I hate it. I think we get the most rain of anywhere in the UK. IP: Logged |

damn right burkey. South East england always gets the hottest weather, the coldest, the heaviest snow and rain. we get warm drizzle. pisses me off and the fact that Armagh has no decent shops. it makes it the worst place to live in ireland. this years snow/slush (all 3cm of it) is late. god i hate our climate.[This message has been edited by darthbob (edited 12-18-2000).] IP: Logged |

LIVING IN ILLINOIS DEAR DIARY: AUG. 1 It is so beautiful here. Can hardly wait to see it snow. I LOVE IT HERE OCT. 14 The leaves are turning all different colors. I love the shades of red Went for a ride through the hills and saw some deer. Certainly they are the most beautiful animal I have ever seen. I LOVE IT HERE. NOV. 11 Deer season will open soon. I can't imagine anyone wanting to kill such an elegant creature. The very symbol of peace I LOVE IT HERE. DEC. 2 It snowed last night. Woke up to find everything blanketed It looked like a postcard. Went outside and cleaned snow off the steps and shoveled the driveway. We had a snowball fight today (I won). When the snowplow came by had to shovel the driveway again. What a beautiful scene. I LOVE IT HERE.
DEC. 12 More snow last night. I love it. The snowplow did his trick again that rascal. A winter wonderland. I LOVE IT HERE. DEC. 19 Snowed again last night. Couldn't get out of the driveway to get to work this time. I'm exhausted from shoveling. Fucking Snowplow! DEC. 22 More of that white shit fell last night. I've got blisters on my hands from shoveling. I think the snowplow hides up the street and waits for me to shovel the damn drive before making his run. That Asshole! DEC. 25 "White Christmas" my busted ass. Mother fucking snow. If I ever get my hands on that son-of-a-bitch who drives that snowplow, I swear I will castrate the dumb bastard. Don't know why they don't use more salt on this fucking ice. DEC. 28 More of the same shit last night. Been inside since Christmas day except for when "Snowplow Harry" comes by. Can't go anywhere. The car is buried in a mountain of white. The weatherman says expect another 10 inches of this shit tonight. Do you know how many shovels full of snow 10 inches is? JAN. 1 The weatherman was wrong (AGAIN). We got 34 fucking inches of snow this time. At this rate it won't melt until the 4th of July. The snowplow got stuck down the road and shit for brains had the balls to come to the door and ask to borrow my shovel. I told him I broke 6 shovels already, shoveling out the shit he plowed into my driveway. I broke the 7th shovel over his fucking head. JAN. 4 Finally got out of the house today. Went to the store to get food and on the way back a deer ran out in front of the Did about $3,000.00 damage to the car. Wish the hunters would have killed them all last November. MAY 3 Took the car to the garage in town today. Would you believe the body is rotting away from all the fucking salt they keep putting on the road. It really looks like a piece of shit. MAY 10 Moved to Florida today. I can't imagine why anyone in their right fucking mind would want to live in the God forsaken State of ILLINOIS!!!
