I have just been informed after 3 months of complaints to British Telecom of low speed internet connections and dropped connections that it was BT themselves that have been the cause of the problem. They have installed a DACS unit on my line so it is now shared with another user. Their excuse for this is that it was the only way they could give this new subscriber a line in my area due to lack of lines. I have spent 2 days complaining till I am blue in the face, the only response I get is that it is allowable within their Licence, they only guarantee the max data transfer as 28KB as it is only a voice line, then why did they allow me to subscibe to BT surftime then I asked, same reply. And why do this when they can't give me an ISDN line, same reply. It seems I would have a better case if when I first had the line installed I had requested a Data line (in 1988 I ask? ), but it seems you can cover yourself from having this done to you by ringing 152 and having it recorded against your customer records that you are a data user and do not want any DACS equipment installed on your line at any time in the future, it does not work 100% but it will help if you get to be in my position.For more info see here http://www.alltodaysnews.com/btpsdn.htm Going by this Guys experience I can join the next War in April next year. A big thumbs down to BT !!!I hate it when corporation do that type of shite...and then they point to some obscure legislation that covers them...it realy s..cks big time. It'd be good to get them for non-disclosure...but they're probably covered by legislation that way too no doubt. IP: Logged |

Oh Commando, sorry to hear they are f'''ing you around. I think a visit to the other subsriber in your area and tell him to Cancel because they are cheating him as well, by getting only half speed, ,then sneak back online! I have BT 9.99 a month for free after 6 and all weekends so what will they do to me.------------------

Biggs , being with BT surftime or BTinternet makes no difference, they did it to me they can do it to you. I have BT surftime and have been with BT internet.IP: Logged |

Commando,You might want to be more carefull in your contacts with the BeeTee. Remember, Big Brother never sleeps and is alway listening. By the way, wasn't that you complaining about the services on the phone? I would also recommend my current telecom company to raise up your BT customer's morale. All the best ------------------

Thanks for finding my post Pye, I wanted to update everyone but Hawk has been messing about again.Yes I have had my DACS unit swopped onto one of my unsuspecting neighbours and selfishly it is a great improvement, before when I was online I dissappeared for 10-20 secs every minute, if I didn't lose host/server connection completely, now I have lost stealth mode and can be shot down at all times (there has to be at least one disadvantage) but online is now a pleasure. Great to be back, will be a target near you a lot more. ------------------
