Darn! Just called Regis Philbin and for the first time I got kinda far. 2 out of 3 questions I answered right, but not good enough to go on. I'm not sure what would have happened next, maybe another round of questions, but it was exciting. There's a phone number at the end of the show and I've been calling it for a few weeks now, but this is the first time I've done fairly decent. Anyone else among you trying?

Who Wants to be a Millionaire? is one show we watch every night (that it's on, probably US only). It's great. The phone call is like the beginning of the show, the fastest finger question, only this time there are 3 questions, one after the other. It's not easy, believe me.

Spanky here....

We used to watch it all the time but got bored of it.

Some of the questions are stupid and plain wrong at time.

And it seems a little easy to win.

Call me crazy.

From what I have heard of the UK version its much harder over there.

I like the russian version - the audience misleads the contestants. LOL

Btw the Canadian version sucked BIG TIME - I can't think of a worse choice for host, except maybe Rita MacNeil.

I've heard there is a local version here called qui veut gagner des millions? or whatever, but I gave up watching TV 4 years ago. Such a waste of time.

Pachy, I agree, TV is a waste of time. I just have it on in the background for news and such, and like posted here, this game show.

This show is great! It brings back the old fun of "family TV." I watch with my wife while she feeds the baby. I think it is one of the most accurate Q/A shows I have seen, the questions and answers seem very careful worded. What error did you find Spanky?

I like watching the people cop-out! Chicknes!!!! Go for it, common!

There is even an Irish version.
Supposedly the q's for the our show are much harder than the q's for the English show.

SV.

The term Iron Horse brings what to mind?

To me it has 3 possible answers, bicycle, motocycle or train.

They only (at first) accepted one of those when the person answered one of the others.

Another time.

They asked how many kilobytes was in a megabyte. OR it might have been what is 1000 Kilobytes.

As far As I know the answer or the question would be 1024 kilobytes.

South park, now thats a show. It has taken over for the simpsons IMO.

The best channels I find are history televsion and TLC/Discovery.

I don't have speedvision or I would list that too.

Spanky - that Iron Horse question is rather esoteric in nature, as a rail buff I would know that one right off (it is unquestionably the railroad) but I see how others would think it unfair. That's one part of the show I don't like, how sometimes questions like the above seem easy to people who are into that sort of thing, and so they get rated as a 1000 dollar question or around there, when the person being asked has no idea whatsoever and has to burn a lifeline. Too many of those rip-offs and I quit watching the show, I got tired of seeing smart people get killed on extremely esoteric questions and walking away with less money than they would have made by working instead of flying to see Regis.

The railroad, unquestionably. That company and that mag both named themselves after the former. I'm trying to think of an example but of course one escapes me. You've seen it though, something gains a particular reputation so other, loosely related companies try to capitalize on the rep by using the name for their own purposes.

If nothing else, the railroad gained that name long before mountain bikes or motor bikes ever existed. That's what makes the question good - it discerns based on knowledge of (albeit esoteric) history.

So now your saying thats a GOOD question cause its messed up?

The show later recognized their mistake and took his previous answer.
