Gee, thanks Ontario. If it's true that you elect Liberals at one level of government and conservatives at another, I can't wait until Harris is tossed out on his behind. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

Spanky here... WM don't you get american news just like the rest of us? Of course not the only thing the US pays attention to is itself. What else matters? From what I have been seeing here in ontario it looks like liberals at most levels of office. Just wondering WM whats your beef with harris? IP: Logged |

Spanky, yes I get American news, hell I'm sure Iqaluit (you yanks try pronouncing THAT one properly!) gets American news! But on a night like our federal election I'm sure not going to watch it! It's rediculous, with every "major" issue from the OJ trial to these elections, the American news media absolutely kill a story in the first two hours with massive oversaturation of coverage and then repeat said coverage with the occasional new "development". Frankly I'm sick of hearing about all these legal challenges and screwed up ballots, even the jokes about the election are getting old. And we don't even live in that country!!!Oh, and btw, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Mike Harris a dyed-in-the-wool provincial PC? The "commonsense revolution" and all that? Thus, PC @ provincial level, Liberals @ federal level... I've heard that a number of times over the last month, from Ontarians who moved to Calgary and also on radio talk shows in the city. I have no beef with the man, but if the Liberal/PC split is true, then I can't wait for the flip-flop where they vote in Liberals Provincially and conservatives Federally! What a joke that election was. I can't believe people in this country were stupid enough to put those jokers back in WITH A MAJORITY GOV'T! I mean come on! Even the marajuana party would have been a better choice for crying out loud!.... and YES I did vote, so I get the right to bitc# and moan! IP: Logged |

Ontario's favourite Autocrat now has every reason to tighten his grip on power even more... Even Maclean's has said the Office of the Prime Minister has accumulated so much power that the cabinet has been reduced to a focus group!... and when Maclean's starts taking shots at the Liberals, you know things have gone foul.Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! Why is the popular vote such a big deal in the states but not canada?? The liberals got 65% of the seats with 40% of the popular vote !!! TS IP: Logged |

Spanky - I'm going to make an assumption here and say that your post was written very much tongue in cheek. Well my reply is that it's all relative, right? I think it's fair to say I'm more conservative on certain matters than you are (and that is just fine either way) but it means that I see the Globe and Mail and Macleans as having a significant bias to the left whereas the National Post for example has a significant bias to the right. Maybe you see it differently, that's just fine - freedom of choice. However, frankly not a single media outlet in this country, on its own, is a reliable source of information for people who seek to form educated opinions on matters. That is not to say I am the expert on such things, but that I at least try to recognize the bias in each publication I read so that I can question their motivation in writing particular stories. No need to get chippy... Spanky here... LOL nope I was just asking man. See I don't follow it all that closely. If there is an issue I make a decision based on what i know about it and my thoughts on it. Not if i'm conservitive or liberal or what ever. I actually don't know what the right and the left mean half the time. Let just say I follow no political party. IP: Logged |

LOL, ok Spanky, sorry man. I forget sometimes that not everyone cares about politics as much as I, and most of my friends do. Anyhow, you'll excuse me for not answering your original question (although I kinda did above) because like I said I have my biases and others have theirs, so really the decision is yours to make. Spanky here... Its not that I don't care about it. Its just that there is only so much a person can do in a day. and sometimes politics can be a mind boggling thing to stay on top of. Thats why I didn't vote. I woulnd't have made an informed decision. And i'm certainly not going to listen to the crap they spew to decide who to vote for. I still have no trust in a career politician. Anyone who builds a life lieing to the public to get into office isn't who I want in office. IP: Logged |
