have you seen the messageboards lately its riddled with posts about problems such as CTD's. Anyone from here knows all about that Theres also other problems that go on and on. What disturbs me is that this game looks amazing but without multiplayer and the doubting of even a simple patch to the fix the problems, b-17 2 will quickly dissapear.

I'm still going to ask for it for christmas though

Rumour has it they died of old age......

Still, look on the bright side, if it took them his long to release a reduced feature version of the game, still with bugs in, that still fails to live up to lowered expectations, it's a surefire candidate for the bargain bins come January!

I think it could be well worth £9.99 in a few months time.

Not too bad so far...
Just ctding once in a while but no more than Sdoe. I run Dx8 and I heard it lead to trouble.
Otherwise its just a ressource hog (Im in the 5 fps zone sometimes, on a pIII 600 oc 800 with 128 Mo ram and TNT 2 Ultra)but real worth the buy even without MP, reminds me of some other sim I fly a lot

ON A P3 800! 128 MEG RAM!

What level of detail is it set at?
I can't see myself having the hardware to play this game for the forseeable future anyway. It sure looks pretty, but there is another SIM with a B17 around here that could be made to look that pretty if I had the same level of time and money this sim has had.......

I get 5 fps when I swap views mostly otherwise its quite fine (>20 fps).
Full details on, and rez is 800*600*32bits btw. Might also come from the TNT2, and it looks like 256Mo Ram help a lot (no more swap to HD)

I'm curious where your getting those frame rate numbers from. Have they added a frame rate counter in the finished version of the game?

Or is this your best guess?

HEY! THEY STOLE THE DM FROM SDOE! SDOE's 17's look just like that when you wack 'em. Actually SDOE's look better. Where are those bullet holes the planes are supposed to get?

Having just checked out the cockpit damage shots and the video clip posted there, I am saving my money for Il2. Even with the restricted initial plane selection, Oleg is promising a lot more planes to be released for add-on usage. Don't know if these will be of the 'free' nature, or of the 'buy an expansion set' sort. I am judging it by the worst case scenario. For all you on-liners, though, sounds like you can pair up to crew a Sturmovik.

Enough has been said about the graphics....

Oh, yeah....minimum spec for Il2 is a lot nearer to what I have, so I expect to be able to play it with plenty of detail too!

p.s. What I said earlier about not buying a game when it came out.........I should have said except for IL2 Sturmovik.....

PR: didnt find a fps counter yet, those numbers are just rough guess, but its quite easy to see the difference between slide show, and "fluid" display.
