The Gauntlet, the U of C's student-run newspaper published an election supplement in today's edition that outlined the party platforms and rated the candidates in each riding in Calgary on their knowledge of issues affecting students, blah, blah, blah, but at the end of it they had a section called "Voting Instructions for Students from Flordia" I thought you might get a kick out of...

1. Read the list of candidates and parties and decide which candidate you want to vote for. You can only vote for candidates that are on the ballot, sorry.

2. Tehre will be an empty circle next to the candidate you wish to vote for. Make an X in this circle. The following will not be considered voting for your candidate:
-Circling their name
-Punching holes in your ballot (Canadian's aren't that violent)
-Colouring in the dot with your favourite colour
-Yelling your candidate's name while looking at the ballot box
-Asking who is from "Ralph's Team"
-Voting for the candidate next to yours
-Voting for Pat Buchanan
-Writing a detailed analysis of each candidate under their names
-Protesting two days later when you have discovered that you did not actually vote for your candidate.

3. Place your ballot in the ballot box. Do not take it with you. Do not give it to the person next to you. Do not mail it to Oregon.

Imo this could have been written with a little more bite, but I think the Gauntlet was treading lightly on this whole election issue because they're known to be very leftist and didn't want their "credibility" to take yet another hit. Anyhoo, if it's good for a chuckle I've done my good deed for the day.

What?....A student publication "known to be leftest"? How can that be?

Here in the states all of our journalism majors go on to be totally objective reporters, with no political bias whatsoever. They teach that objectivity in journalism school...don't they? That's why student papers at US universities are never "known to be leftest"? All this talk of the US press being too liberal will never be true as long we keep pumping these open minded graduates into the industry.
