I was just cruising Blue byte's website and stumbled across some really, really, really, pretty screen shots. They aslo have some shots of the Goth 6 engine transport and a few other airplanes that will be included, but not listed in their in game planes. They also have a few bold lettered aircraft that will be made user flyable after the game ships. Mondo drool.

On a related note, Onvia.com has V5 5500's for $177, shipped.

Who is producing IL2? ie: Who is to IL2 what Activision is to SDOE or Hasbro to B17ii?

I hope IL2 does much, much better than B17ii in sales so all the number-crunching execs realize that quality pays, and that the genre is not dead or unprofitable.

Maddox games is producing IL-2. Bluebyte is the publisher.

Maddox is a new publisher, and by using mail order only, BlueByte can test the waters. Less risk.

Actually whirl Maddox isn't new and it isn't a publisher. THey are a developer.

Blue byte is the pub and they got out of the north american retail system cause its too expensive.

You have to buy shelf space just to get your game in the store.

They have to sell ALOT more games just to break even.

I once read an article that said a grade A game will cost you over a Million just to get the game boxed, advertised and on the shelves in North America.

Thats not including the cost of development.

So Imagine how many copys they would have to sell to actually make a bit of money.

Just think of it this way Werner. If you buy the game direct from bluebyte your cutting out the middle man.

More of your money is going to the guys that made the game, instead of to the local software store.

Which in my mind is a good thing cause then they can spend more on development and if they do well enough will still be in business.
