Bleem!, a company who put out the infamous Playstation emulator for the PC, announced at E3 that they are developing the same emulator for the Dreamcast. And not to be called liars, they had a working model up and running on the floor!!! We witnessed Gran Turismo 2, Ridge Racer 4, and Omega Squad being run on the Dreamcast! Now, you're saying, big deal, the Playstation 2 can do that. But here's where it ends. The PS2 does not enhance every game, and it doesn't do what Bleem! does. Read more about it here http://www.dreamcast-hq.net/bin/shownews.cgi?id=1845 and check out the Gran Turismo 2 video (link in upper right corner of page) that shows GT2 running on a Dreamcast, and it looks great! Bleem! will come out with "Bleempaks". Each "Bleempak" will support a set 100 Playstation games. There will be 4 Bleempaks to start initally. Each "Bleempak" will retail for $19.99. Now, please note, you must own the specific Playstation game for this to work. And games not listed in the specific pak will not run either. But considering the cheap price of PSX games, this isn't a problem.

Spanky here... Sega should really support this, its like instantly getting a HUGE library of games for their system. I would be interested if I owned a dreamcast. But my main problem with the DC is its controller. Nasty. There is a converter avalible to let you use your dualshock though. Too bad you never see stuff like that on the local shelves. There is a PC adapter for the dualshock too, but once again its hard to track down. Even though getting that and a dualshock would do alot of PC gamers a world of good in some games like action and adventure and RPGS. IP: Logged |

Spanky here... Just watched that vid, looks good. EXCEPT, I'm pretty sure there was some slowdowns. slowdowns BAD. I wish people would do a vidcap though intead of Just filming it with a vid camera off a screen. It would show the difference so much better that way. Oh yeah the original PSX can do 640x480, so thats not a new thing for PSX games, Even GT has a hi res mode. Its not common though. Just don't try to tell me its some amazing breakthrough.
