Ok, I admit it, I didn't like this game at first. I have to say that after a Carrier attack mission I made, I am now impressed.I took out a Destoyer after he took out my hydrolics. Limping back to my ship, I had pump my gear down and hold almost full right rudder to keep her straight on approach. I overshot, had to go around and do it all over again. This time I managed to catch a wire. Whew! I was worn out. Hehe, am I shot up or what? Great game! -=BAB=- Gunner [This message has been edited by Gunner (edited 10-28-2000).] [This message has been edited by Gunner (edited 10-28-2000).] [This message has been edited by Gunner (edited 10-28-2000).] IP: Logged |

I agree Gunner. I had an early beta we got at work and wasn't impressed. The final version rocks though and I've been having a blast with it! Love the beautiful effects and lighting. IP: Logged |

Guys, I never thought I'd say this. I acutally am enjoying CFS II more than SDOE now! I never thought that would happen, esp with a WWII sim. But the incredible beauty of dogfighting over the gorgeous ocean textures is soooo sweet! The lighting adds much too, the time of day changes, the brilliant damage modeling and explosions/smoke, the incredibly realistic sounds of other planes near you, passing you. The puff's of smoke on engine start are great too, plus the audio engine is just tops. One of the SWEETEST parts of this sim is the horizon and sky. I have mine set on unlimited and can see out to the horizon and it runs silky smooth, even with 20-30 planes in the sky! It just looks so real. The best things for me about SDOE are all the nice view modes, the great feel of the physics engine, the sense of speed, all the fun to be had with OP and creating new things. But the renderer could be updated I think to support T&L that the new video cards support (Geforces), and if time of day, dawn, dusk, night, etc were added along with the ability for lights at night and such, then SDOE would remain king for me. But CFS II for now just took the lead IMHO. The bad... the MAIN thing I'm really missing is a following view similar to SDOE's and a Tower view (and also Slew similar to SDOE). It does have slew but the sim stops when you are in that mode. Also Co-op multiplayer isn't in it which many are mad about, but since I don't fly online too much it doesn't bother me. This weekend has been spent flying my butt off with this very fun sim. I'm sure some will find flaws, as there are always a few present, but if you haven't tried it, or you did try the beta but not the final version, it's honestly one not to be missed!

Pretty fun, I'll post more later. Oh, I just shot up that B-24's #4 engine and flew along side it. Not only did the flames and smoke look VERY believeable it was also spitting out sparks. Just a ball of fun IP: Logged |

As with any new toy, I can't put it down. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it has taken SDOE's place as my favorite, but it is comming up fast. I think the carrier ladings are very nice. The LSO isn't familiar with my style. He keeps waving me off and I stick the landings anyway, lol. Another thing I enjoy is attacking shiping with bombs. When you hit the target a very nice explosion occurs. And when you miss and the bomb hits the water next to the ship, the explosion in the water reminds me of the WWII news reel footage I have seen. And you don't get the SDOE 2000' waterfall, lol. Go get it and enjoy! ------------------ =Campaign For A Mitchell= -=BAB=-Gunner [This message has been edited by Gunner (edited 10-30-2000).] IP: Logged | |
