Aladar.... how the hell can you fly with all that target ID and message box crap turned on?!?!? That totally takes away from the simple WWII joys of flying IMO.IP: Logged |

control-shift L that dumb yellow box is there to stay tho I been having alot of fun with the campaign on hard and 100% realism. DanW is right though the first time you get hit the roll rate goes south. The other damage seems to work ok I've had engine overheats and busted flaps. Nice pics. Yeah, I'm liking this sim more and more every day.By the way, can anyone here get past mission 3 of the US campaign? The objectives state that I have to shoot down 4 enemy fighters and damage the enemy carrier. I can't do it; I run out of ammo or get killed. My wingmen seem kind of useless. They keep colliding with each other or they get shot down and they never seem to get kills. Any ideas? IP: Logged |

I'm on U.S. mission 5 or 6, damage the cruiser. I feel like I'm missing the 'arm' key for the bombs or something. I've never been able to hit anything with them. Anyone have any advice? I finally completed the mission by damaging the cruiser with slow strafing runs right up the middle (98% gun accuracy ) Anyone else notice that the ships sometimes pass right through each other? Also, JT is right, the wingmen seem useless. For instance, I have 30 kills, the 7 other guys have one kill between them. When I'm attacking the cruiser, they are just flying around. Is there an 'order wingman to attack' key that I haven't found? [This message has been edited by Lothar (edited 10-22-2000).] IP: Logged |

Theres a way to unlock targets. Look thru the key commands. To turn off all that other stuff (If you dont know the keyboard commands) just hit Alt and click on views. There you will find things with check boxes... just uncheck them! IP: Logged |

>I'm on U.S. mission 5 or 6, damage the cruiser. I feel like I'm missing the 'arm' key for the bombs or something. I've never been able to hit anything with them. Are you hitting the backspace key to select the bombs? If so, they should be armed and ready. I think the problem is that gunsights are set too high. I noticed this when practicing carrier landings. The flight path seems to be way under the target crosshair. Try lining up the target along the bottom edge of the sightglass. The other thing may be that if you're used to SDOE mega-destruction-bombs, your bomb aiming skills may have gotten rusty. :-) >Anyone else notice that the ships sometimes pass right through each other? YES... kind of humorous, kind of annoying... sloppy waypoint design, I guess. [This message has been edited by JT (edited 10-22-2000).] IP: Logged |

>if you're used to SDOE mega-destruction- >bombs, your bomb aiming skills may have >gotten rusty. Amen ! Also try bombing "soft targets". If you are flying a zero with tiny 30kg bombs they work best against tents, wells, oil drums, etc. Wingmen commands are on page 132,133 in the manual. TS

Just tried US campaign mission 3... again. I personally shot down two enemy planes and damaged the carrier. Two of my wingmen shot down one enemy plane each. That's a total of 4 enemy planes downed. There were no other planes left to shoot down... kept hitting t and TAB... no targets. Even got the "you may hit x to blah blah".So, I hit X and landed... the result... MISSION FAILURE These overly scripted missions are just goofy. This is just serving to remind me why I've always disliked and stayed away from single-player missions and so called campaigns. Requiring the player to shoot down 4 enemy fighters is just plain unrealistic. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the heads up on the wingman commands. It's funny, the commands aren't listed in the keyboard section, and the only entry for 'Wingman' in the index references the glossary entry. I guess I should at least leaf through the manual from cover to cover Hopefully, using the 'A' key will result in those guys pulling their own weight Does anyone know the significance of the names that the planes are labeled with? They are things like 'duckbutt', etc. Do these correspond with aircraft types, or is it pretty random? IP: Logged |

One handy wingman command is "S", every time you hit it up to 8 times your formation spaces itself farther apart. Helps avoid those traffic accidents.IP: Logged |
