I am currently a MSN ISP subscriber and have been happy with the servic but where the service is going is what has me worried. The current preview for the next edittion of MSN involves the movement of the existing email service to Hotmail - a service anyone can get for free, that as a subscriber, I would basically be paying for through my monthly fee. To make things more interesting, MSN has teamed up with Radio Shack to offer MSN DSL to the masses for $39.95, a decent price. The down side is that the projected plan for existing dial up subscribers to upgrade to DSL involves the customer to shell out 50% of the current monthly fee times the number of months remaining on the initial contract. Obviously, MSN has their customers coming and going.
Aside from the initial agreement offering email as part of the package deal, the only recourse for the MSN subscriber is to refuse the terms of the new and any future customer service agreement forcing MSN to drop you as a subscriber or a class action lawsuit against MSN for breach of contract on the customer side.
If you are a current MSN subscriber, perk up and check out the MSN customer service area, including the new agreement and MSN preview 2 (don't download it as it WILL convert you unrecoverably to HOTMAIL). For confirmation that I am not lying about the 50% monthly fee times the number of months leftover on the contract, email customer support and inquire. While you are at it, feel free to voice your opinions about MSN moving to Hotmail.
