It's a tiny bit annoying bailing out in EAW only to discover that it seems like the PC ground crews forgot to assign you a parachute. After pressing alt+b once, does the computer opens the chute by himself, or o I have to pull the ripcord (read: press a button) myself?? Also, my game came w/o a manual. Is there a PDF document or something I can get???
Ole Semmern loves EAW!!!!!!!

Alt B is all you need. The chute deploys on it's own if your high enough. You hear the noise of a chute snapping open and you stop falling, spinning gently round....

Yes I've done this rather a lot....

It's a great game, but falls down if you start to call it a Sim.

p.s. I love it too, along with Mig Alley and Flying Corps Gold....

Semmern, you have to be travelling a safe speed to avoid hitting the tailplane, also try to bail as level as possible because it takes into account you hitting your head on some obstruction.
I go for the upside down and drop approach which was used often, much safer and almost guarantees you get out safely.
If you hear a loud 'thunk' sound as you bail it usually signifies a hit on the head!
The bailing procedures and other things should be part of the readme file in the patch.

Well, ok. But I tried bailing from 18000 feet, with no chute. I'll try the upside-down jump and see what happens.

Yeah sometimes you are knocked out or worse.
Fly slow and keep her level for safer bailouts.

On some versions of EAW, the manual is on a PDF on the CD. It should be in one of the folders. Saves trees, keeps costs down but is a little annoying if you like curling up in your bed all comfy and snugg with the manual.

You have to be very careful when bailing out in EAW. The *thunk* you hear is usually a harbinger of death although sometimes you regain consciousness just in time to pull the ripcord.

Have you guys checked out the home-grown sim. forum at bombs-away? Seems pretty cool although it might be a while until we see the project bear fruit.
