how much would a simple overdrive/distortion pedal be. no bells and whistles, just cheapish and durable. sick of having to hit that switch on my wee 10watt amp. cheers

Gosh, I'm not sure, but it couldn't be more than 20-30 bucks could it?

I think there are a lot of on-line music stores. You could probably do a little surfing, or even try the site of the manufacturer of your amp.

Right now I'm drooling over a Marshall Valvestate 30watt w/10" speaker amp. I'm absolutely fantasizing about a black Telecaster with maple neck too.

Hard to rationalize actually doing when you only know four or five chords, but hey, we have to have our dreams, don't we?

Mk10

Of course that's an extremely personal thing, but I never liked Valvestates. Of course they are cheaper than their All-Tubes counterparts but the few extra bucks make such a HUGE difference.

The t-caster in one of my personnal favorites It's so simple it's simply brilliant.

I have a Boss Turbo Overdrive and I could not really recommend it LOL. Bought it 6 years ago, there are better choices now.

Now I don't really play much anymore. Gotta sell this old Rickenbacker and get a really good acoustic. That's enough hardware given my low abilities (I'm more into the 3-chord thing )

Probably about $80-150 bucks you can get a nice distortion pedal. I've been playing lead guitar, bass, and keyboards (and even some drums) for the past 25 years. Only a litte professional stuff, but mostly just at home for fun.

cheers everyone. i'm in a 2man band, haven't got into the spirit of writing things yet. on the subject of telecasters, the best one is jonny greenwoods custom one. it looks great and sounds superb, partly the reason why radiohead are the best. for now i have to make use of my replica strat that buzzez up the fret board. nothing to do with action though.

Try
www.musiciansfriend.com
They have just about everything you could possibly need, at good prices.
I bought my last Strat there and they beat all the local stores and even those in Houston.
Good luck!
