I have recently placed EAW back on my machine (just got a bigger hard drive...woo hoo!)-- but when I went to get Meatwaters sounds, his site is inaccessible. Either it is shut down or non-functioning. Are the sounds available at a mirror site somewhere or am I SOL? Thanks!

Jeeves; check the EAW forum at combatsim; I think one of the EAW add on sites, like the Hangar, may have them - I think I remember seeing them at one of them. If I come across it again, I will post it here.

Check the 'Recommended EAW add ons' link at he top of the forum page..

ok...http://thehangar.dogfighter.com

It is only the full version, tho...the 2.5 upgrade is there also. And I understand someone did a conversion of his Rolling Thunder v 1.0 for SDOE over to EAW...dunno the site, tho.

Thanks nealg-- that did it!!! Downloading them now...I have been using this site for most stuff- http://eaw.thrustmaster.com/ -- but it was only mirroring the sound pack so I couldn't get it. Now-- I know you fly EAW, so where do I go now? I have the patches and now the sounds, but I'll be damned if they aren't now a gazillion new terrains, planes, and the like. From what I've seen, the pics of the planes aren't that hot...so do I bother downloading them- or should I be happy with my European theater that came with the game? Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Jeeves, there are terrains at www.eaw.thrustmaster.com -- Good ones. Try the CFS terrains and the winter and autumn. Kick arse. I just got EAW and can't figure out why I didn't buy it a looooong time ago!!!

semmern is right...I got one of the terrains, it is fantastic, even at 800x600 with detail dropped a bit. Also, I got the sky...I think it is Pretzel's..and it is beautiful. There are several..

The only thing I'd recommend right now is the FM updates; Charles Gunst's ECA 1.4 and Panel ( 3.3 now I think ) and ECAOnline 1.4 are both essential, and both different. ECAO tweaks the FM's of the stock EAW planes, and is the most noticeably different of the 2. ECA 1.4 and the Panel make some changes, but add hundreds of planes...be aware, though, that in game the plane will still look like the original unless you add a skin...it will fly differently, though.

Try those out first and decide where you want to go from there...the more you add, the more problems you will encounter. Again, Cort's site that semmern mentioned...the one I posted...Major Lee's site..www.geocities.com/weurger/main.htm for ECAO...members.xoom.com/Pretzelworks..you will find many things at these sites, and there are dozens of others.

Good flying!

Actually- let me rephrase that...I don't think I am that lost ! Any terrains would go here, right?-- so say I downloaded Pacific- it would go to Terrain\Pacific.

And if I wanted plane skins for this one, it would go to Skins\Pacific, right?

My question(s) are these--

What goes into Flugzeugwerke and Common?

And if I download new cockpits, where do they go?

Also-- I was looking at the ECA Panel and am lost-- if I want to fly a Pacific campaign, do I have to go here and say change for example the 190 A4 to a A6M5 Zero, or does it do this automatically when I enter that terrain? I am a bit daunted by all this, but want to learn how to do it

About Stab, and the terrains - skins; I dont use it, so cannot say. From reading their forum, I know that Stab is the biggest confusion maker, and some never have gotten it to work right.

As for the Panel...you have a choice. You can manually select the planes for the theater you want, or, in the drop down boxes on the menu list, you can select a era or theater and the changes will be made for you. But, the selection is not automatic..you must pick the planes/era/theater yourself.
