Although it may not be as complex as Nascar 3, it feels more like racing. I really enjoy Nascar 3, but if feels a bit static. Nascar Heat gives you a better perception while driving, and you can look left and right. Even an animated pit crew that throw tires over the wall, although pit stops are scripted (AI controlled once you enter pit lane)

It is not as arcade like as you may first think. It has many features that N3 has plus, you also get to drive DAYTONA. It also has different challenges, like finish in the top 5 and several practice elements like Grand Torismo (spelling???)

Here is the site, Big download 47 Mb, but worth it. The game should be out August 22.

I d/l it and just tried it. It's pretty cool. Watching the replay is like watching the race on tv.
I still like my Nascar Racing sim though. Custom skins and 40 drivers plus load of tracks.
I might pass on it as Nascar 4 should be out in a couple of months.
