I've just been in Germany, where I bought EAW for an undisclosable amount. (read: parents will find out!) Got Red Baron 3d too. Trouble is they're both in German. I thought that it would be possible to install them in English, too, but I was mighty wrong there! Been to the Hasbro, MicroProse site, but that's crap, and I can't exchange it in any shops here at home bcause nobody wants to take it. (Of the few I visited) No response from MicroProse. Whadda you suggest I should do? And where do I get the patch? Mebbe that helps???------------------ Quote from a TWA hostess: "If you ever feel the urge to blast through the air in a pressurized metal tube again, please choose TWA!" There are probably some "Learn German in Five Days!" tapes at the local library. You could try and sell it, and work the "Hey, this is really neat and weird...it's in GERMAN!" angle. Add about 20 bucks to what you paid for it. You could find someone who has a German exchange student, kidnap them, and tell them the only way they were going to be able to get back home is to work as your interpreter until you win at least one campaign. You could just fly it and say "damn the torpedoes," ignoring the vocal commands, and pretend you're a hearing impaired WWII pilot. You could get an English/German dictionary, and constantly hit the "pause" key as you looked up new words. Anyone else with more bright ideas? ------------------ Mk10 Maj=225th= IP: Logged |

well I think that is bloody well out of order !!!!!!!!I bought the English version, right... Fly a German Plane and the voices are German. Does this mean that when you fly British/American the voices are still German? hmmm...
What if you bought an English version and copied the files across....... IP: Logged |

Well, thanks Mk10! Trouble is that I can't get EAW here in Norway. Prolly too old for them shop freaks to sell. Mebbe if I d/l-ed the patch, then it would turn German into English. Happened to me once, (in reverse, tho. Total Air War suddenly went German after I installed the patch for it ) The voices are all toned-down English.(Haven't tried the German planes yet) You can't hear a bloody word them wingmen say. Mebbe some German o rGerman-speaking on this board is willing to exchange versions?? This may sound a bit far-fetched, but hell, I'll try! Where can I get that patch?? Also, what's the address of the 'official' RB3d site??IP: Logged |

Probably not...I have the French version and the voices are kept in their original languages, i.e. the Brits and Yanks speak English and the Germans speak German - the only difference is that the dialogue is subtitled in French and all the text in the game (including the manual) are in French. I'd imagine that the German version is the equivalent (although I'd guess they wouldn't bother to subtitle the spoken German). The V1.2 patch is available at the microprose website or at the EAW forum at www.combatsim.com. I don't think there's anything you can do about everything being in German. Think of this as an opportunity to expand you linguistic horizons. It's actually quite a beautiful language. IP: Logged |
