OK boys...who better to ask I have been looking at some different jet sims (perish the thought...I am a WWII junkie ) What are your guys views on this one...and on the game that focuses on the Superhornet (FA-18 ?)? I would like to start tooling around at speeds over Mach 1 and this one seems to give me some variety...with some Vietnam era jets...some present day...and the F-22...so any thoughts are welcome on either sim. Also-- in looking at prices at stores I have trouble finding it for less than $35...are there any online places I could look at that might have it cheaper? My flight sim section of my wallet is looking pretty thin...I'd hate to wait until it gets $10-20 cheaper Thanks boys! ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! Personally, my fav. jet sims are Janes F-15 and Mig Alley. There is also one good FA-18 Hornet sim out but I have not tried it out yet.IP: Logged |

If you haven't got MiG Alley, you've missed a great sim. Total Air War is good, too. The graphics are good enough, and there is a great dynamic campaign.IP: Logged |

I have'nt tried the other sims (only demos) but Jane's USAF oi pretty fun. Shooting down your own A-10s in an F-15 is fun. And because it's Jane's, you know its going to be bloody accurate. As usual, though, it comes down to price, and Jane's games are ususlly higher up in the price ladder.IP: Logged |

I bought this last night for $9.95 in the mall here. It's a very well done sim! Very fun. My ONLY complaint though is the horrible sense of speed. It feels much too slow. But all the voice chatter, the missions, airplane variety, etc are all good. For the low low price it's well worth it. I also saw Jet Fighter IV: Fortress America, and boy, it's just pathetic. Steer clear of it. The jets are on rails in it and it's just not fun. Plus it cost $20.00, not even worth it in the least. IP: Logged |

Yup...I ended up getting it and enjoyed it for a while...but then needed the huge amount of room it took up and uninstalled it....but I am thinking of reinstalling it again soon-- now that I have a bit more space IP: Logged |

OK, I'll make my plug and not go on about it. Dated but great graphics for its time (1993), but with an as yet unmatched mission planner and three levels of campaign; Available for download on the net now as abandonware (see my site for more); one word:TORNADO If that's just too old with not enough eye candy or you don't want to mess around getting the DOS boot needed to play it, its makers, Digital Integration, have also put out F-16 and F-18 sims. As a rule (in my humble opinion), sims of modern aircraft really only cut it when they simulate one aircraft type. Lots of aircraft = generic aircraft (beer & pretzels sims, not serious ones). ------------------ Be seeing you, 3dp Visit RAF Harkness! IP: Logged |

Jane's Fighters Anthology. A hell of a mission builder and over 100 planes. Should be pretty cheap by now. Also, with free mods to download you can have flyable helicopters.IP: Logged |
