Just downloaded the beta. There are quite a few things that need to be fixed before the final release.

My opinion:

Fairly simple flight sim so far. No moving control surfaces, the sounds are a bit... well theyre just not very good. The terrain is dull and boring. The little ground units look like pieces of paper. There arent that many planes to fly yet. (I think about 6) The FMs just dont have any "feel" to them (WWII Fighters had "feel" to the FM) The cockpits are 2d and the glass texture is non-transparent. Basicly no bells and whistles. But this has its good points. Im sure with everything simple like it is you can have a TON of planes in the air... and since BoB is a WWII on-line flight sim, it would make sense not to make things too flashy. It could be fun on-line, but definatly not off-line. I hope they add more planes to fly and at least do something about the sounds.

Hey, where'd you download that beta? What can you do in it?

I think six flyable planes sounds around right - I read somewhere that the only planes that you can fly are the Hurricane, the Spit, the Bf 109, the Bf 100 and the Stuka. All other planes are non-playable although players can man the gun positions in the bombers if they so wish. Also, the graphics don't necessarily have to be simple for them to model 1000-plane raids - I think that for those planes outside the player's view, they're going to use some kind of simplified system to handle combat, etc.

What Battle of Britain sim?? Rowans or Simguilds? Since you say it's online I reckon it's Simguilds.

Yeah, I figured out that it was Simguild's BoB after desperately searching the web for someplace where I could download a beta of Rowan's BoB.

I got all excited for nothing ;-)
