I saw this on the WW2 online board. I hope it's true.--- After the debacle that was Hollywoods U571, and the "If you don't like it do one yourself" response that some of the less informed members of the US gave, it is with a slight degree of glee that us Brits can give a nice two fingers to Hollywood. Mick Jagger (yes him from the Rolling Stones) has just put forward $25M to make a film called Enigma with Kate Winslett (the fat chick from Titanic) which will tell the TRUE story of how Enigma was 'discovered' and how it was broken. Yeah, Leonardo DiCapprio finds it on a necklace hanging between her tits while he is sketching her. IP: Logged |

Will the film show how the Enigma code was broken in 1933 by three Polish matematitians and in July 1939 two working copies of the German machine were given to the British and the French goverments? What's that U-something film affair about anyway? I don't even have a telly never mention the full screen Poniat IP: Logged |

Poniat, Im curious... do you live in England? U571 was a u-boat movie released not too long ago (less than half a year) but other than that I have no clue what the plot is or how good it was.IP: Logged |

I live in Poland so forgive me my ignorance, even the IP packets get delivered by horse mail to here. One thing I'm curious about, did they actually go out fishing on a said U-boot? How did they capture it? A hook and bait or a common fishing net? Blimey, such a catch! That must be rarer than the Latimeria ! Now, where is the nearest video rental place? I wonder if they have anything apart the newest Arni's masterpiece... Cheers [This message has been edited by Poniat (edited 07-14-2000).] IP: Logged |
