Ok I downloaded the EAW patches but I do not understand.... Are the planes in the patches actually new 3d modeled aircraft or are they just the origonal models with new flight models? I ask this because when I installed the new patched the aircraft still look the same.IP: Logged |

Suffice to say, the EAW community hasn't come as far as us in making new models. I d/l'ed a lot of mods but the 3d models were imported from 1942 Paw and aren't very good nowadays. We rule!IP: Logged |

Argon,if you're still interested in EAW downloads, you might want to check out what's going on in the EAW forum at www.combatsim.com Some bright spark made an actual Zero (not a PAW Zero or a reskinned 190) that looks pretty good. I think he may be tackling other projects in the near future as well but I'm not sure... IP: Logged |

I read it was a modified Zero from PAW. Here's the link: http://www.combatsim.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/008296.html IP: Logged |

The guys over at combatsim have been busy......so far, they've added a P-80 and a Gloster Meteor and another bright spark released some sort of program that allows you to easily edit shapes. There's talk right now about rigging up a B-29 and editing the B-24 to make a Lanc. IP: Logged |

Ok, just saw some screen shots. While Im happy they are able to edit aircraft and such, the models leave something to be desired. I'll admit that SDOE doesnt have a Meteor (why not?) but its only a matter of time before we have a beautiful one! And the P-80 they have looks too much like a P-51. How good are the flight models on the new planes? Anywhere close to how good ours are?[This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 08-02-2000).] IP: Logged |

Hi, Aladar.Sorry about that - I should have been more clear. Up until very recently, the only way they could change the actual shape of the planes was by hex editing so a lot of the new planes are either re-textured default planes or default planes with little tweeks. However, recently somebody came up with a program that allows you to edit the shape much more easily so you can see where this is heading... In terms of level of detail - I don't think it'll ever approach SDOE but we're talking apples and oranges since EAW was set up to allow humungous air battles and campaigns and SDOE was set up for stuff more in close and personal. As for how the P-80 flies. I haven't downloaded it yet. I also don't know much about the real, historicaly P-80 so the FM could be all buggered and I'd be none the wiser. Flash IP: Logged |
