Thats what I felt like when I went to my moms work. They were having a computer auction but it was all free! Her work just got in new systems and so they were trashing the old ones. There was a huge room full of computers, monitors and such just stacked high. I got about 7 systems and Im trying to see if I cant get at least 3 operational. So far I put together a P-166 with 48MB of RAM, a 1.2 gig harddrive, a 4 speed CDROM and a 33.6 modem with a 15 in. monitor. Not bad considering it was free. I also got an old DOS machine (Intel 33 mhz with 16MB of RAM) up and running and a Toshiba laptop with win 3.1! I still have Pentium 90s and Pentium 100s to get working. I still have plenty of RAM, harddrives, cases, processors and monitors laying around my room. I got a few 15inchers and one 17in. You should see my room. Its like an old Best Buy.

I used a 486/33 as a Linux IP Masq box for my cable modem. It was a good excuse to at least dabble in Linux.

Every household deserves an ip masq box running squid on a 486/586 for that extra oomph.
