In the nick of time! Just of to the shops (well, store then) to get that, saved me some hassle. I'll get Combat Mission instead.
Don't fall into this trap WAYWARD, bugger the release date, make it right!

Just pasted this thread and e-mailed it to EA. I'm feeling very vindictive. Over six months since I had a game I cared to play on this PC, looked forward very much to Shogun, only to be stiffed YET AGAIN.
The PC games market is going down I think. Sales this year...20% down, consoles doing a roaring trade. Why? Because these wankers, in their arrogance, assume us mugs will be forever happy to run our phone bills up downloading patches for games we've already paid for.
Are they really as stupid as they appear to be?

Good on you for warning us, Siggi. I was planning to get Shogun too; think I'll give it a miss.
What's doubly annoying is that, yet again, none of the reviews I've read have warned about the bugs.
PC Gamer is particularly guilty in this respect. I bought Hidden and Dangerous and Braveheart largely on the strength of their positive reviews. H&D is still a truly great game, despite the myriad bugs, but it would have been nice to be warned. And the less said about Braveheart, the better. What a stinking pile of fetid dingoes kidneys that was, and no mistake. Talk about a missed opportunity.

My mail to PC-ZONE...
"Hi geezer!
I've been buying your mag for over two years now, it rocks.
But...I'm wondering; you know that game you lot said was so great, a classic even, goes by the name of 'Shogun'? What version were YOU playing?! IT...IS...BUGGED...TO...BUGGERY!!!
Before you say it must be my PC I suggest you go check the various forums. It's being returned in droves already. Wake up and smell the coffee time? I guess us punters have finally had enough of the pay-in-shop-for-game-and-run-up-huge-phone-bill-downloading-patches scenario.
Why didn't your review mention the fact the game is a piece of bugged shite? Do you REALLY play the same code as us mere mortals?
No biggie. EA had a potential winner but they botched it. No wonder thousands of PC owners are giving-up in disgust and running for their consoles. Guess you lot will be looking for new jobs too in a couple of years...no need for a PC games mag when nobody is playing PC games anymore. Shame because I really do like your mag. Especially Charlie's parts.
Oh yeah, please print this and give me a prize. Ta, Ge-Force2 should make the nut.
Regards,Jv44Siggi out."
Then I went for a browse through their patches section, not looking for anything in particular. Guess what I found, released on the same day the game hit the shops...yes, you've guessed correctly! A 3.3Mb patch for Shogun.
If it wasn't so bloody outrageous I would laugh.

The final straw. I don't often get this angry but I've really had enough. E-Mail to EA....
"And just to finally take the ripping piss, I find a patch (3.3Mb, cost about a quid to download that) on the PC-ZONE web site THAT DOESN'T EVEN F***** WORK. When I try to install it I get an error message saying something about can't transfer a readme text from one to the other.
IS THIS DELIBERATE????? Is there some sick, twisted psycho working for you lot? Can you even wipe your own backsides without instruction?
I PAY £30 FOR THIS GAME, SPEND ANOTHER POUND DOWNLOADING A PATCH AND IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK!!!!!
Insult to injury. What a bunch of COMPLETE AND UTTER WANKERS!!!
I will take immense pleasure in a) taking this dreck back for a refund tomorrow and b) TOURING THE FORUMS AND POSTING COPIES OF ALL MY MAILS & POSTS TO YOUR SAD COMPANY.
I hope my efforts cost you plenty of lost sales.
Absolutely WITHOUT EXCUSE!!!"

Final e-mail to EA, containing this whole thread. I am seething with rage. It's like all the anger over past bugged games has come to a head. Time to make a stand. I reckon I'll get through about a hundred forums before the night is finished.
"Sweet internet. The days where you arrogant bastards can sit back in your fat office recliners, pissing on us consumers with impunity, are over. Check the thread below...I reckon I've cost you a hundred pounds already, warning my friends about your bugged software. I'm now on a mission. This same thread is going to be posted, by me, on forums across the net. Multiply that by word of mouth, should make my point felt in your sales.
YOUR ARROGANCE IS DESPICABLE!!!"
